Yea i mean thats pretty badass:nice:, but if they had saved a bit of money and put it into suspension they would be just as, if not faster. I would rather have a good handling car that is also fast in the straight line. I wouldn't say suspension is a waste:shrug: Its all in how he wants HIS car st up.

His cars aren't just for straight lining. They'll handle to. I've been out on the street with him and they can corner pretty damn good too.

Those examples are all well and good, but I don't see how they prove one point over another? I never said a car couldn't perform without one, but they will always run faster and handle better with one. The removal of the 90lbs from the car (especially off the nose) will aid it weight transfrer which will in turn improve ET's as well as handling. No, it's not a necessity, but neither are 10 1/2 wide wheels, excessivley large throttle bodies and full 3" exhaust systems on stock cars....but that never stops most people for putting them on? Every little bit helps.

Any future Mustang I build is going to get one. Weight savings being the main reason, but the additional room for aftermarket headers or general ability to work underneath unobstructed that they provide is a huge plus as well.

They may not be for everyones budget, but other than a person underspending on a cheap, low quality inferior piece, there are zero negative draw backs to having one.

I was just showing that Mustangs can be pretty damn fast without the need for tubular suspension. This thread was about him replacing a stock K-member because his other one was bent, no because he is trying to mod his car. I was just trying to save the guy some money.

The 11-1/2 inch wheels are there for looks and traction. Nothing looks better than full size Mustang wheels with 345-30-18's on them.

I understand what you're saying....and if he didn't already have to replace the K-member, I wouldn't have suggested it as a necessary expense, but it really makes no sense to me that someone would opt for a stock K-member if the old one was damaged and needed replacing anyway? For about the same money or less (based on what he was quoted) he could go with a superior aftermarket one and gain the advantages noted above. It’s win, win across the board and really a no brainer IMO?

This would also be a perfect time to add a set of long tube headers if it were ever on the horizon....because there's never going to be an easier or more opportune time to do it. :nice:
+1

I'm glad I'm not the ONLY one who sees it this way.
See above. ;)

i have the upr set up in my car,i love it.it looks great for shows or just that clean look,it drops weight but the main reason i did it was for clearence, that thing has opened up so much room and makes dealing with exhaust issues and such soooooo much easier.in my opinion it could make me slower and id still get it for the clearance alone.

I here that. My L/T's on my Cobra are a joke to try and do anything to. I wish I'd never have done them. Althought they did add quite a bit of power. Just make sure youre trans and clutch are in good shape before installing them.

thanks for the input guys. In a way i am tryna mod the car. So the aftermarket piece wouldn't be dissapointing to me. I just wanted the cheaper alternative but also somethin that would help out the car. I wanted to know the people that installed the aftermarket k members. Did you guys use ur stock struts or had to go with aftermarket ones. I would like to keep the stock ones but if not then i don't have a problem replacing them.
