I just installed my K&N replacement air filter, and I have a (stupid seeming) question about it. Well the only way for me to get it on was to lock that black casing back over it, and I'm not sure if there was some other way to get the filter on there without that casing over it. I was searching around for answers and read that some one else said you can cut part of it off. So basically, is there any way for me to have just the K&N exposed, or is it not supposed to be?
