K&N Filter Effectiveness, from oil analysis

Does anyone have any evidence that a K&N filters fewer particles than a paper panel filter?

Last I looked, most OEM panel filters filter down to about 9 or so microns.

A lightly oiled K&N filters down to roughly 1 micron with initial efficienty over 97% and overall over 99%.

I'm not sure where all the, "OMG you'll wreck your motor"!!! stuff comes from.

If you live in the burbs and drive a bone stock whatever... yeah, a K&N might be a waste. The size of the OEM panel will outflow your motor every day of every week.

If you're trying to squeeze every last ounce of restriction out of your 3 or 4 inch inlet tract... well... now the size of that OEM filter panel isn't such a great thing anymore.

Either way, a filter done wrong whether it's an OEM style paper filter or pleated conical K&N, can and often will give you issues. If you're not a, 'maintainer' of your filter and inlet tract then you shouldn't have bought that CAI with aftermarket filter in the first place. If you're idea of modification is a set of platinum sprak plugs and a fart can, then you also have no business running an aftermarket. Stick with replacing your OEM panel at the recommended interval.

If your modifications have exceeded the inlet tracts ability to support your combo then it may be time to go aftermarket. Will I install a larger airbox capable of a larger OEM type paper filter? Oh hell no... let's just take the trip to Bizaro World instead. I'm going to install a 360* reusable filter and maintain that filter as is recommended.

As for law suits? Uhhh... Ok, whatever. I can sue my neighbor for stepping onto his front porch in boxers and flip-flops to pick up his morning paper. Doesn't mean I'm going to win.
