K&N Filter Size?

I had a K&N in the stock intake box, but when i put the CAI fender well intake on the filter obviously has to be smaller. I've seen some home made intake with huge filters on there, just wondering what size is the biggest and the best fit in the fender? I assume a bigger filter will flow more?
