K&N FIPK or sub frame connectors?

I've done my research on CAI's but have the option of buying a NIB FIPK for $85, or a set of used bolt in sub frame connectors for about the same price.

I already have a K&N drop in with out the snorkle so the FIPK gains would be minimal, but better. On the other hand my vert has the stock mini sub frame connectors and would handle better with a full length set.

So I'm asking for your opinions....even thought I think I'll know your answers.

I would go for WELD IN subframes personally. The bolt in ones may have a shear effect over time which will cause them to lose their effectiveness.

+1 for weld in sub frame connectors...it makes a very noticeable difference in convertibles...I had mine (finally) installed last week, and the car is much, much more composed...


BTW $85.00 is way too much for used sub frame connectors

+3 for the weld ins. That is the next thing I am planning on doing. You won't see much of a gain from the FIPK but from what I hear the MM Full length SFC's are the a great mod that you can really notice. They may be a little more than you are willing to spend now so just wait until you want to spend a little more cash.

+4, no question in my mind. Get the SFC's and don't even think twice about it.

Both are pretty much worthless. The FIPK won't change much of anything except a slight change in the tone of the engine, and the bolt in subframe connectors will loose their effectiveness over time.

Don't even think about the bolt on sub frame connectors, the weld in is what you want.

um I guess +6 on the SFC. I just got MM full lenght XL's installed. The car is so stable at 120mph it truly one of the best mods I did. The car doesn't feel like an accordian anymore.

thanks for the feedback. since I've never seen a set of sbf's, why can't I weld in a set of bolt on's?

so here it is...I'm buying the FIPK for cosmetics, ordering a mid-pipe, and will wait for full length sub frames.

the mid pipe logic is it will give some hp gains, and sound better.
