My ol' lady's car got broken into yesterday afternoon.

They attempted to jimmy open the door and in the process the window shattered, setting off the alarm. They opened the door, but fled the scene empty handed. She had her face plate on at the time, and about 30+ cd's in the console, and a very expensive set up in the trunk, all untouched. Thankfully the tint held together most of the window. Is going to cost $200 to fix the window then we'll have to get quoted on getting the car re-tinted.

She said that when she left work, she heard her alarm going off. When she talked to the security guard on duty, he also said he heard it going off, but didn't check it out and this is why...

"Most of the time car alarms go off, it's because Mustang driver's come thru the parking lot with loud exhausts setting off car alarms in the garage".

I'm so guilty of doing that in that very parking garage, d'oh!

That sucks. Report him to his boss. Thats his job, to get off his ass and check. Hell if he just did rounds, I bet thiefs would go prowl somewhere else. Why pay for useless security.

+1 Its not like he had something better to do.When i used to ride bmx me and my friends would ride through the parking garage and the rent a cop would chase us out cause its his job.

Most security guards in parking lots won't take the car out of park for their $8 dollars an hour wage.

But c'mon, I'd take that part time job at night, IF:
1. I didn't have a girlfriend
2. Didn't work on Mustangs all the time.
3. Didn't go to school 2 nights a week
4. Didn't bowl on my league 1 night a week
5. Didn't work my regular job 51 hours a week
6. Didn't have a house and a yard to keep up on.

I hate all the security guards there, they're about worthless. I guess car theft in the area is increasing and the police department is trying to increase patrols in the area. And a lot of it is in the daytime. I really need to push her into getting a CCW.
