I dyno'ed a bit low and I'm curious to know what power level and mods others have.

Can you post the KB kit info: (if it's I.C.) Boost level, mods such as the big tube kit and throttle body size, switch chip, gears, and your dyno numbers (Power and Shootout modes) along with octane when you tested, KB chip or custom tune.

Thanks,
Hop

Stock car, anywhere from 370 with a straight 9psi kit, to 405hp with their induction add-ons. Most are on the low side of that figure, even with the 5-speed transmission. Don't feel bad if you're not seeing Kenne Bells advertised figures.....most don't.

Yeah, their #s are based on a suicidal 23* timing running on 100 octane fuel.

My 433/418 # are on 91 octane from cheapo gas station and KB std tune chip. I have the big tube and whole intake package from them.
Before the swapp I made 278/343 rwhp/tq on the same engine with the saleen blower.

nothing to commit suicide here, I'd rather live under boost

Oh, I forgot to mention mine was in "power" mode. I have never tried shoot out mode...I might if I had easy access to 100 octane.

What is that supposed to mean? You don't have 23* timing on yours or at least I hope not.

And I didnt choose to run 6 PSI. Something is wrong with mine.

there may not be anything wrong with it, it could be the motor. I remember before your S/C you were making VERY low #s stock N/A, simular to a 5spd NPI car....I wonder if some or all of your exhaust valves are bad and letting boost excape? Try a compression check, with that new of a car it should be darn near even on every cylinder.

Those Saleen #'s look awfully low, particularly for a PI engine.....is there a story behind that? Were there any other mods done at all?

Actually, those numbers are extremely good for his mods. Much higher than average.

Where are you coming from my Canadian friend? My first dyno run was 290rwhp with the Allen (M90Eaton also as YOU know) at 6psi and a cat back on a 98 NPI motor. I think he should have been at least around 310-320 with the Saleen and those PI heads. It really don't matter I guess, were talkin KB anyway. It does seem that there is a wide variety of numbers that come back from all of the KB guys though. I suspect the KB responds better to intake and exhaust flow improvements and tuning. Mine has not.

Don't count the Allen short. It's got a far better manifold design and intercooler design than his previous Saleen did. Even with PI heads, you still have to get past the restrictions of the inlet end of things, which is where most Saleen kits fall short. Hell, even Saleen’s Gen V 2.3L Twin screws are barely outperforming the 1.7L KB’s at this level because of this. Your cars problem is the NPI heads and cams, not the blower. And yes, at 9psi, the KB will respond better to mods, because at this level of boost, it's making less heat, while moving more air as a whole, with it’s larger 1.7L displacement and equally impressive intake than our M90’s ever could.

I posted a thread on this in the MPH tech board. I sometimes wonder if all 8 of my cylinders are working. All in all, my motor is probably garbage, from the start. Something a new MPH motor should cure, if I had the $$$.

Thanks for posting your information, I really appreciate it.

Here is the skinny on my car -------->

There are three runs on this sheet:
014 (Blue) = KB kit in "Shootout" mode; 399-HP / 397-Tq (on 100 octane fuel)
013 (Red) = KB kit in "Power" mode; 372.3-HP / 380.6-Tq (on 100 octane fuel)
012 (Green) = Saleen Series IV kit; 362.8-HP / 390.1-Tq (on 91 octane fuel)

I have the KB 1.7 I.C. 9-psig kit, with big tube kit w/ 90-mm MAF and 75-mm Accufab T.B., switch chip. Manual transmission with stock 3:27 gears. Exhaust is a Magnaflow catted X-pipe w/ catback system.

The Saleen kit had a modified manifold (ported and polished) 42-lb injectors, 90-mm LMAF meter, the same 75-mm Accufab T.B., and an Autologic chip with custom tune.

So I decide to take the plunge and spend the money on a KB kit

I only gained 10-RWHP with the KB kit (w/ the Switchchip on the Power mode) over the Series IV kit, and the KB kit produced less torque too!!!!
Is it unreasonable to expect 400-rwhp from the KB 9-psig kit on the 91 octane Power mode, with a big tube kit??????

Thanks again,
Hop

Man, that sucks! You spent like 5K for 10RWHP? And thats on 100 no less (unless the timing was for 91). Apparently the only real difference is the manifold, but you took care of it. Well, get some LTs and O/R and you will see 400RWHP. I feel for you, good luck. Oh and make sure your seeing 9PSI by getting a boost gauge.

wait! you guys are not seeing 400rwhp with the kb inless your on 100 octain?

is that running the 9 psi? you cant run 93 and get 400 rwhp? i thought that it came with the intercooler. wouldnt that mean you could run more boost on less octain?
