i would like your guys opinion as to how well the stock internals would hold up to the kb 1.7 intercooled or non intercooled ? i was thinking of getting one but don't know which one.my stang has 10k miles on it and i don't have the cash to rebuild the lower end with forged rods, crank etc.its a 02 gt 5spd w / 3:73 gears.i just want a quick car for the street.no track use as of yet.

go with the 1.7 intercooled kit. the 6# non I/C kit will be nice at first, but you will want more soon. trust me. With a good tune and proper maintenanace and good driving habits, your motor will live a long, health life.

Go with the 9# version. You WILL want more if you go with the 6#. Just take it to the dyno and check the a/f to make sure its safe and you should be good to go.

Thats what I thought. I went for the 9 psi kit bc I knew that the 6er would be to slow... well the 9psi is too slow and now I wish I would have gone with forged internals... damn, gotta pull the engine this winter.... and buy a 14 psi pulley

I'm starting to feel the same now.

Ah well, I still can't complain.

Estimates with 20 psi producing an easy 850HP on this motor which utilizes 60lb injectors, AFR heads and cams and FAST throttle body.

WOW
