So how simple is it to take the 6psi kit to 9psi when you're ready? What kinda cost or changes would you have to make?

Price of the cooler (I think around $1000)..and a day in the shop. You have to pull the blower off to install the cooler.

really 2000BLKGT?

according to superchargers4less the vortech S-trim comes with the injectors, computer chip, fuel pump, bypass valve, belts, brackets... everything that you need.
and at $3198.00 is a bit cheaper then KB,so the KB comes with a better intake ,is it worth another 1000?

ive yet to decide on which im going to do myself but considering cost VS my goal of 320-350Rwhp i still researchin all possibilites.

-to the original poster Congrats on your purchase.to everyone else thanks for the extra bits of S/C knowledge youve shared.

KB 6psi is $3800...that's $600

And yes...IMO the new intake is worth it.

i see these things all the time. They are light and quick....not superfast but quick. I guess having a big BMW dealer 10 mins away helps with sales.

Just picked up the Kenne Bell 1.7 L supercharger and am very excited! I wanted to stick to a low boost, 6psi, to ensure engine longevity. I will finally be able to put down all those a-holes in the 350Z's, Z4's, etc. that are constantly screwing with me because my 'vert really stands out in the crowd. Maybe I can even give the C5's a run for the money, what do you think? A day doesn't go by that I don't get at least one complement from someone or I come out of a store and someome is checking out my car. See my sig. Right now my best time at the track is 13.79. What can I expect now with the supercharger? Of course I won't be able to run at the track anymore because I don't want to screw up the looks of my car by putting in a roll bar. I figure I will be putting out 370- 380 hp at the fly, at least. Also, what should I pay for the install? Thanks for your input.

What Gumbanger conveniently leaves out in his indepth bag of wind is the old adage: "you get what you pay for".

A couple of things to remember if your looking at the price of the KenneBell kit:

1) it comes with injectors
2) it comes with a new aluminum intake manifold

Not sure what kind of bucks 8 x 36-42# injectors cost...but add that to the bill on the centri....I'm sure it'll add up to quite a few more bucks.

The new aluminum intake is a very valuable part of the KB kit...so you get to ditch that plastic POS stocker that has a track record of inevitably breaking.

Try blowing a stock intake manifold with a centri set-up on a mild street car, and find an aftermarket replacement that will fill the need. Reichhart(sp)...no way...P51...ain't happening...both are pretty much race applications. So if/when that happens...you're stuck buying another plastic POS.

I priced out a polished Vortec 8psi non-cooled set-up at the same time I priced out my polished 6 psi KB...and at the end of the day, the difference out-of-pocket was minimal. (this included the price of install BTW)

While the KB may seem pricey at first...you get more value for your dollar....and pretty much everything is included in the kit besides spark plugs.

You get what you pay for!

Again with the name calling. Look 2000BLKGT, if you can’t make a valid point there’s no need to get your panties in a bunch and call me names. Sit back and read before you start flapping and you’ll learn all you need to know. Yes, the KB does come with a new lower intake manifold. But what you also forget to mention is that it comes with one because it has to in order to mount the twin screw to the top of the engine, not because Kenne Bell is doing you some big favor in upgrading the intake. Again you emphasize enthusiasm, but forget to check out your facts. The stock intake is more than capable of handling all of the boost you can throw at it. The cracking stock intake only refers to the coolant crossover, which for one was remedied with the later aluminum crossover on the mid-’01 up GT’s and two if you’ll notice, the coolant crossover area is not under pressure from the induction end and therefore isn’t affected by boost pressure.....nice try!

As for value for your dollar…you’re grasping at straws there too. Sure the KB makes decent power at 6psi, but it costs as much as a Vortech Mongoose kit (which is complete with injectors and tune http://modularpowerhouse.com/produc...d=121&osCsid=ee8bfc0ffabba17af70a17f7765372bd ) and the KB makes in the neighbourhood of 40-50rwhp less. So what part of that equation do you consider more cost efficient?

The only part of your statement I’ll agree with is yes…you get what you pay for. Fortunately at this power level, you get it for a lot less with your average centrifugal!

Yup...I agree.

Gumbanger comvinced me...my car is a complete dog. I got totally ripped off. Man...I'm so pi$$ed that I waisted all that damn money.

Oh well...I guess I'll start selling all the stuff off now...since I can't sleep with the thought that I could've got 40 more hp for the same money.

And to think...part of my purchase was the goal of building a sweet engine compartment...guess I failed there too.

Anyone want to buy this stuff:

Took the words out of my mouth.... Centri's are a good budget blower and will give you the power you want reliably and not be too hard on the internals. PD = hella fun down low, produce a lot of heat, little more expensive. Either way you can't go wrong, it's just a desicion on what type of fun you want in your price range:

low-end fun - Screw/roots

Top-end fun - centri

2000BLKGT

Very nice looking car...I think a pair of 01+ smoked headlights would complete the front and give a better contrast between the body and the engine compartment.

I think I am going with the 6psi kit.

for the main reason i don't want to rebuild the whole car. the 9psi kit just takes the power range out fo the what stock rear and tranny are going to take if you are hard on the car. The parts may last or they may not it is like rolling the dice.

from what I have seen you can get about 330-340rwhp out of the 6psi kit. possible more but you will get at least that. that is 380-390 at the motor. I am sure someone can chime in with dyno data.

no 350z or z4 will be able to hang. you will most likely hand with the normal C5 vetts but the c6 and the z06's you will have to bow down to unless you go with the 9 psi.

I hung with a 2001 Viper GTS. The owner was shocked, then mad that I could do it. But then again, I went with the 9#.
