To avoid having to drop the pan and replace gasket, try a nice fat bead of gasket maker as mentioned above. I agree with what is said above, while you are changing clutch, always change bearings. Get good bearings (BCA TIMMKEN, etc) NOT CHINESE POS's. However, be careful with Timmken bearings these days from Auto Zone They are made in Japan, and parts of the throw out bearing are plastic. Good Throw out bearing costs about $25 good pilot bearing ~$10-$15. \

I am not gonna deal with the pilot bearing. It looks excellent. And i have a Brand new TOB. I need so re-seal the oil pan, and get a new rear main seal.

So do i actually clean the clutch disc with Brake Kleen?

Clean the flywheel & pressure plate. Leave the clutch disk alone.

Excellent advice. I got a chinese pilot bearing that went bad after 70 K miles and ruined the transmission input shaft. The problem symptom was that the car was hard to shift with the engine running. I adjusted the clutch several times without getting it to shift smoothly.

The pilot shaft was $150+ with the shipping. That plus two days work to get the trans out, replace the pilot bearing, clutch assembly & input shaft. Replacing the transmission input shaft involved dealing with the loose roller bearings in the rear of the shaft. Those can be fun, even when you pack them in with white grease to hold them in place.

Today when i was drilling the rear main seal, i accidently scratched the the crank.....will the seal leak at all, and is the balance on the crank ok?

advance auto parts has the good throw out bearings the ones that are metal autozone sells the junk plastic ones.

Balance will be ok. Leaking depends on the size of the scratch.

OK i hope the seal doesnt leak....what so i do if this new seal leaks due to the scratch on the crank?
