Clean the flywheel & pressure plate. Leave the clutch disk alone.Joey5.0 said:So do i actually clean the clutch disc with Brake Kleen?
or just the pressure plate?
Excellent advice. I got a chinese pilot bearing that went bad after 70 K miles and ruined the transmission input shaft. The problem symptom was that the car was hard to shift with the engine running. I adjusted the clutch several times without getting it to shift smoothly.302RollinHard said:To avoid having to drop the pan and replace gasket, try a nice fat bead of gasket maker as mentioned above. I agree with what is said above, while you are changing clutch, always change bearings. Get good bearings (BCA TIMMKEN, etc) NOT CHINESE POS's. However, be careful with Timmken bearings these days from Auto Zone They are made in Japan, and parts of the throw out bearing are plastic. Good Throw out bearing costs about $25 good pilot bearing ~$10-$15. \
Your peace of mind.....Priceless.
