after driving 3 2011 5.0s deciding on keeping my 86gt and doing the mods on it, the new ones are huge compared to the 4 eyes, they feel much heavier, they have good power, in fact the auto tranny one felt faster then the 6 speed ones, but my wife and me like the looks of ours better, we just need more hp. if i can get mine in the very low 13s ill be happy.

I approve this decision.

I dont agree with them feeling heavy, they do feel bigger though.

Yeah, the LOOK so much bigger than the fox. Someone had a pic of his new mustang and his old fox next to each other just a few weeks ago. I personally like the smaller fox

I like the bigger car.

It's the payments that I don't like

I gotta admit I am considering selling the car to improve the debt to income ratio so I can buy a place....

Kinda where I am. Made my last payment in my Infiniti, and paid off my CC's. Kinda like having cash in my pocket now

Love the 2010+ lots of power but it lacks a little bit of the roughness older models offer but that's just an opinion. Don't like car payments either. If I can't afford it cash, I won't drive it

Gosh, there are tons of guys considering the same move including me...I cant afford both haha

This is what changed my mind...
Last car show of the year in Nebraska in november my wife and I took our 88GT to show it off lol
there were 20+ 05-10's all lined up....2 2011 5.0's next to them, ONE 4-eye
and my 88GT. OUR foxbodys are starting to stick out in the crowd and the people flocked to them....it was kinda crazy, but neat!

the guys in their late 20's on up were all over the foxbodys!
"I think we are keeping the car!"
A clean, tastefull foxbody is coming harder and harder to come by and I think the coolness is/has continued to increase....JMO

So much to consider and for a fun car, the Fox wins. For one thing, the payments of the newer car might make you resent it. The cost of everything is going to be much higher. Taxes, insurance, and any and all parts associated will be several times as much. On top of that, the newer car is going to be tons more picky when it comes to engine mods. Not to mention that if you keep your Fox up, it will only increase in value, while the New 5.0, it will loose enough value every year to buy a decent Fox. However, there is nothing like a new car.

A new '11 5.0 is what, $35,000? Can you imagine what you could do to a Fox for half that amount? Yeah, I know it would still be at least 18 years old, but it could hand the new car it's azz in every catagory except NVH and creature comforts.

My wife and I went and looked at '03 Cobra's when they came out. Honestly, other than the powerplant, they really didn't do anything for either of us. So we "invested" about $6,000 in a Kenne Bell and a few other bits & pieces for her '96 Cobra with 60k miles and had a car that performed better than the Terminator and was still paid for.

That can be said for any car. I can make a honda faster than a 2011 GT, who cares.

Me. I don't see the value in sinking $35,000 into a new car that isn't $35,000 better than what I already have that's already paid for.

This is my opinion. That's all it is. Take it for what it's worth and move on.

I test drove an '11 5.0 six weeks ago and I really like it. It was smooth, quiet, great ride quality, and comfortable (I thought the clutch pedal felt too light tho). But for me, I enjoy the "hot rod" feeling of my old Fox.

good decision keeping your 4 eye.

I made a statement a long time ago that I would not buy another new mustang until it had the 5.0 back and a six speed standard in the GT. Now it does, so what to do. I would have to clear the garage to have one and I am not willing to do that.

I just can't get past a nicely done fox.
