Hi Guys,
Speaking for a friend of mine but he just purchased a Kenne Bell 1.7l kit to intall on his '99 Gt that has 34k miles on the clock. Whe are having it tuned by a local shop and also am having them throw on the BBK long tubes and a new clutch as well.

What clutch do you guys recommend for the power he will be making? This will be driven on the street so preferably a sprung clutch. Thanks guys!

I've heard nothing but good things about Promotion Powertrain. They blueprint McLeod clutches and pressure plates. It's kinda hard to get ahold of them though.

I ordered one and it's sitting at the UPS depot right now.. Should have it tomorrow..

~$359 gets you a McLeod clutch that holds 650hp. They say it's pretty close to stock feel, but I haven't tried it myself..

When I was speaking with Walt he was telling me about the work they do on the Tremec 3650's. They will replace the input shaft with a 26 spline unit and go through the whole thing. They replace all the synchros and a bunch of other stuff. He said they charge $1650. He wouldn't say how much power they hold, but he did say they have one guy running 900hp though one and it's still going..

Thanks for the fast reply's guys! Much appreciated.

I have a spec stg. 3 in my MR2 turbo and I'm putting down 350whp and it grabs great has great feel (basically stock) however, there have been some instances where the springs actually fall out and the clutch plate cracks. I have about 7,000 miles on mine and haven't any issues.

Would you guys think a spec stg. 3 would be fine or have you guys had the same issues with them?

I have heard nothing but good things from ACT which is what I will be going to if/when mine fails.

Mine's 100% daily driven street car and my Spec stage 3 has given me ZERO problems.

If it's a sprung clutch disc I don't see how it's harsh. I too have a spec stg. 3 on my MR2 (350whp) and it is daily driven and feels great.

I've narrowed them down between the SPEC stg. 3, ACT, or the Centerforce DF. Of those three which would be best? I've owned a centerforce before and really liked it but will it hold the torwue his engine will be producing?
