Kenne Bell Baby

I just put my order in for my 6 psi Kenne Bell kit, Boost Gauge, Fuel Pressure Guage. Also ordered my Steeda Tri-ax shifter, and dash board guage cluster. I am so F ing excited, but the people at Kenne Bell seem like morons. They could not give me definitive answer on anything. I see what you guys talk about when you say that the customer service sucks, they said they should be able to get it out in a couple week, what the f(*^ is that, why can't they say we will send it out in 1 week or give me a date.

All in all I am very excited.

They are back ordered on their compressors because of a screw up at autorotor. Their customer service doesn't suck as long as you don't try to call. Through email and fax, they are great and have helped me with all my problems...even on things that have nothing to do with the KB.

Congrats!
I am very jealous. I am thinking of getting the 6lb kit as well. Whenever you get the kit installed, repost and let us all know what you think of the 6lb kit. My car is a daily driver and I don't need a 9lb kit yet. Also, are doing the install yourself. If so, let us know how it goes and any problems or difficulties that you had.

Thanks :nice:

I will be doing the install myself, the rwhp that is posted from KB is 350 rwhp and about the same torque starting from 2000 rpms until 6000 rpms. From different sources I have read, these numbers are really close. It seemed that all KB tests were done with Catback exhaust, not quite sure, if you read a lot of there testing, they claim exhaust (the best they have seen) will be in gains of 10hp for the this type of hp level, of course when you get around 500-600 you will start to see gain of more because of the back pressure issues. I am a nerd, this is the only stuff I have been reading for the past 2 weeks. I need to get this installed, I am useless now, I am always thinking about it. Just spen $100 on a set of Denso Iridium plugs that they recommend. This hobby is going to be the death of me.  :bang:

quick question,
i have been debating wether to get the 6# KB kit or not. one thing i am still unsure about is how they handle the tune. does KB send you a new chip. or do you send out you computer to get flashed? i e-mailed them the question, but they never really clarified it in their response.

You send them a sheet at the time of purchase with all the mods you have and that come with the kit, the make a chip for you. You don't have to send your computer out, I thought about going with the 9psi intercooled kit, but I am worried about traction issues, Plus you can upgrade later if I feel that 350 to the ground handles all right. :nice:

All they need is the 4 digits code on you computer (like 3ABC) and tell them if you have changed the rear end ratio other than 3.27 stock. They'll send you a chip that plugs on you computer and takes over everything. It's nice, it does not change your stock settings, if you unplug it you go back to normal.
The 6psi should give you 350rwhp and lots of low end torque...

I see you have a KB yourself, how was your tune from the KB, I have been hearing that it is quite rich, I want a safe tune, this is my daily driver and don't need the power to begin with, but I have heard they are pig rich, is this true, and how close were your number from what you expected
:nice:

I use the KB tune and yes it is rich and safe.
Numbers were quite better than expected on my stock block with just a Borla cat back as exhaust...
I'd get the 9psi kit anyway, traction problems is always depending on your right foot. You'll have no problem if you go easy on the throttle, so no issue for a daily driving!
How does my chart below sound...?

Fantastic! Welcome to the club.

Keep an open mind, because the customer service is really very good with these guys as long as you're not an a$$, not you, I mean people in general. I'm 8,000 miles away, never met them, and they've treated me great. So, hang in there and give Ken, James, Brent and the whole gang a fair shake first.

The tune of their chip is great, and yes it's a little rich, but that's to be safe which is good for a daily driver. Mine too is a daily driver and I have never had a different tune other than their chip and never had a ping. I do run premuim gas, but that's to be expected.

Power? Great!

#'s? Great!

Install instructions? Great! Now anyway. Couple of us first installs sent in some supplimental notes that made the already good instruction book that much better.

Fun Factor? Great!

I've been saying it for years, these guys are great and they have a great product. Well researched and well put together. Oh, and service after the sale? Great!

Good luck and enjoy.

Do they send you the installation instructions before they send the actual package so you can study up and be ready when it comes. I have read a couple guys reading the instructions before the kit came. If you not, if I called them you think that they could send them out early. I really appreciate everybody commenting and giving me advice on what to expect, some surprises are good, others are not. :nice:

mrpositraction...congrats! I know you are excited. I ordered mine on Sept. 2 and it is shipping out today!!! I ordered the 9psi kit with all the goodies. I can't wait!!!

One thing I wanted to tell you...KB no longer recommends the Denso Iridium Plug. Believe me, I just went through this with them. I spent $100 on the Iridiums and then found out KB no longer recommends them because customers were reporting problems with them. They now recommend the Denso U-grooves or the NGK TR6's. I sold my Iridiums (almost made my money back) and went out and spent $25 on the u-grooves. Just a heads up though.
