Kenne Bell or NOT? What to buy

I can get a kenne bell supercharger for $1500 and I know it is in great condition, with a boost a pump and a gt-40 lower intake, are they really worth it, or should I get some other motor accessories.

Even for the money Kenne Bell wants for the thing, it will be more bang for the buck than any other mod I can think of. Stricktly street Stang speaking, there's no better forced induction system for the money. The complete kit WITH the boost-a-pump is all you will need up to 8lbs of boost with the exception of a wideband 02 reader, fuel pressure guage, and boost-vac guage.

this setup already has all the gauges and everything else to go with it, just curious if it would be worth it. Or would I be better off in the long run just going with some H/C/I or something.

I look at it this way: The 1500 is good for roughly 500 FWHP. Purchasing a new intake will be a waste of money if you plan to eventually go with a Kenne Bell anyway (you'll need a GT-40 lower and no upper intake). As for the heads and cam well... there's nothing to stop you form adding those items down the road after the SC install AND the blower will give you more power on your present combo than an H/C/I will.

I talked to Kenne Bell & they told me that the stock manifold blower yields the same results as the GT-40, they just said the rear pistons run allittle lean but the performance gain is the same so.

You would make a big mistake passing up a 1500 for $1500. KB makes a big difference on your 5.0 it will feel like a 351w when you are done. Adding heads & cam will make everything better.

$hit, I just paid $2,500.00 for the same thing, used on Ebay If you can get a 1.5 for that you better get it, wether you use it or not you can make a grand profit off it easy...

the kenne bell is making 700 hp on an 03 cobra and new lightnings. Yeah, they are good. The best thing about them is that the boost comes in way low on the RPM range, so you get it off idle. Gobs of torque and hp to boot. Great SOTP feel. They will work great on a stock motor and take advantage over any exhaust and head improvements you make.

Better save a few bucks for new tires.

I know that KB's kick in down low. My question is 1. Does this mean that they are always boosting?(obviously not full boost) or do they open up at WOT. 2. I have an 87 gt w/3:73, if I'm in 3rd and punch it am I going to lose grip??

Well I havn't got mine installed yet but that's what I hear, they may not be the best but that I don't know but the only to give such power @ low rpms that I do know.

The boost on my 2.2L Blowzilla starts kicking in when the vac guage gets to zero. You can feel the "surge hump" when that happens. You do not need to be at WOT throttle for the boost to start kicking in. It is very predictable though. It will not take long for your ear and foot to know where you will see boost. At part throttle, the boost that you get will not be a shock to you or something that you will be suprised by. As for 3rd gear, I'll put it this way. I have 2:73s in my rear end. Moving along at around 40 MPH, if I put my foot to the floor and am at 2500 RPM or higher then I've got full bost and will break the wheels loose.

they make boost easier.......and since they work off the crank they are always makeing boost down low D@MN near idle.....

KB's sound really tempting. Im looking for a power adder this spring for sure. Does the KB run out of boost at higher RPM's compared to a centri charger? Ive heard that they run out at higher RPM's but they obviously make up for it down low. If I get one I'm going to be getting the flowzilla.

do they whine like the lighting/cobra eaton superchargers,if so now i want one,i had the pro charger p1sc intercooled and it had nasty lag like a turbo,it felt worse than a non i/c vortech,i like the screw type blower for the street.

No, only roots blowers lose power on the top end. KB is a twin screw so they dont lose any at top either. They are as efficient as any centrifugal blower on the top end.

You would have to be running the blower at it's physical limit in order to run out of blower at higher RPM. For the Blowzilla, that's somewhere around 24 lbs of boost. KB advertises 18 lbs. but I've seen articles and actually one setup in real life where they were running much more.
