After searching high and low and getting great ideas from everyone here I have decided to get a Kenne Bell 2.1 Twin Screw. $3900 seems like a good deal since it comes with a boost-a-pump and dual chip tune:nice: I hear the twin screws are more fun on road than centrifigals:shrug:

So with the mods I have (see sig) and keeping it a the 6psi setting can I get 400rwhp? I figure the Cobra stock is good for 260-270 rwhp and the Kenne Bell site says +108 rwhp, so I figure with no cats, free flow mufflers and the intake a little opened up it might be right there. I will probaly upgrade the t-body at the same time, should I get a big oval single or like a 62 or 65 dual from BBK?

With a good tune how much boost can I throw at the bottom end?

My GT had 249/295 NA.

On 6lbs it put down 325/320.

The numbers on KB's website are "aggressive."

If you want 400 at the wheels you will need at least 9lb intercooled.

Cant get an intercooled one, dont make em. There are a couple differences in our cars though.
1. I have 45 more horses stock.
2. I have an off road H-pipe (big diff when boosting)
3. I am getting a 2.1 not a 1.7 (big difference in air volume)

I spoke to Jim Bell yesterday and he said he would throw in a 8lb and 10 lb pully and the tool to change them. He also said I dont need bigger injectors:shrug: (yeah right)

So after I run it for a while with the six pounds I will buy 42 lb injectors and a Lightning Mass air and a BBK 255lph pump then try the 10lb.

But I really think I can get close with the six. if you were putting down 325 add mabey 50 for the DOHC and H-pipe, 375 is pretty close but I think it would be more like 385-390 rwhp with 6.

I could be wrong thats why I would like some opinions and I thank you for yours, I bet with the 373?rwhp you have the car is a beast:nice:

For some sort of comparison... my buddies 97 cobra w/ Vortech mongoose kit makes 420+ hp with 9psi on an otherwise stock car besides shorties, o/r midpipe, and catback... I'm on 2 more PSI inercooled, he has better gears for the blower, and we are DEAD nuts even.

They don't offer an intercooled kit for your car??? that REALLY sucks! I say don't even bother with twin screw then and go with a custom turbo or Vortech Mongoose kit from MPH! :nice:

My limit is $4000 and I cant afford thoes for that amount (I want new)
Jim Bell at Kenne Bell said he would throw in the 8lb and 10lb pullies as well as the tool to change them and Lightning Mass Air for the price of the Reg Cobra Kit ($3800)
Besides I want the street torque of a twin. Vortechs are great but I dont want to be at high rpm's to get boost.

Your limit is $4K but you've not even factored in the cost of a custom tune.

You're going to need something that at minimum, will interpret the LMAF for your EEC. You're also going to need something to "trim" those 42 lb injectors for idle, cruise, and part throttle.

Does the kit come with this stuff for your car? I've not looked at the KB website for some time but I'm thinking not.

Tack on another $500+ for chip and tune.

You will need at least 9 lbs to get to your goal on a stock Cobra motor (perhaps more). You will NOT need at intercooler for that blower at those boost levels (good thing because as you know, there isn't one).

Yes a centrifugal in the same price range will make better HP numbers so reconsider if you're looking for bragging rights on a dyno sheet. Alternately, you will make full boost and near full torque at just off idle and all the way to your rev limiter. Your torque curve will look something like this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enjoy!

I can't count the number of screaming centrifugals I've eaten from a stop light.

See my sig, for Kenne Bell mods and ending HP. The HP numbers are about 8-10 less that it should be. Stopped the 1st run at 4500RPM's to to double check my istallation. After that the engine was hot. The second run hit 397 but I have to data to back it up.

When I add the shot out mode and 104 octane gas I'm guessing I'm hitting about 415HP.

Your going to love you KB, and yes their number are a little ways off on th web page.

Hey Daggar, long time no talk, thanks again for the CT:rlaugh:
Anyway, yes the kit comes with a custom tune, and Jim said as part of the stuff he is throwing in he will upgrade me to the dual chip and have one tune for 6psi and the other for 10 psi. Hopefully I can find a set of 42's for $200, if not I will wait till I can afford them before I run the 10 lb pulley and Lightning mass air. That would meen I have to send the chip back for a retune for the injectors and MAF. So I want to avoid that and try for the injectors now.

You might want to ask KB SPECIFICALLY about the LMAF and 42s. On my combo, there was more (much more) to it than just punching in the transfer function for the meter and setting the injector size.

I understand that their pre-burned chips are pretty close when you run the combo that they have set their kits up for but it begins to get dicey when you add this component or swap that component. The variables start stacking up and the only way to really pin them down is to get it on a dyno and start dialing these things in.

I would imagine (hopefully) that you're going with the Flowzilla inlet?

They specifically set the chip up for the LMAF @42lb. I will be getting the LMAF from them with the kit. They also reccomended using Ford Injectors but they are like $400 through them and I know I see them from time to time used for $150-$200 for 42lbs. I know I could probally use less injector but at 10 lbs boost I would rether be safe than sorry, so I am gonna go the used route. I am running out of cash quick and may have to postpone this b/c I still have to fly back to Hawaii to ship that notch. So airfare and car shipping is putting a big dent in my supercharger cookie jar:(
KB has only one kit for the 96-98 Cobra and the only options are pulley size. Dont know if its Flowzilla, its the new series 2.1L.
