Key Fob window down??????

I know this was touched on in another thread but I think it may have been erased in the crash. I remember reading that for some of you your key fob window down feature did not work until you programed it. If anyone has any info on this please let me know.

Depending on when you bought your new Mustang, it is now disabled from the factory due to problems they were having on early models. My owners manual says I have the feature, but it does not work. Since my GT was born in early Jan, I believe the feature is disabled in my GT since I have tried all the ways that you are supposed to be able to make it work. Would be nice to have it work, if it will work right that is......

You also need to have the factory alarm option too, I believe.

Thanks guys, mine was built last week but the wierd thing is the dealer also had a silver one that was built at the end of march and it worked in it. My owners manual does not even have the option listed in it so I guess maybe they did discontinue it.

that would suck - i thought that was a pretty great feature!
anyone have any definitive word from ford on this?

Mine was built in September, doesn't work. But at the same time, I don't have the alarm package, in which I think is need to make this package work.
Maybe this helps.

I can't find a TSB on it but the Dealer would not enable it on my cars - both have the active alarm. On the Vert, all four windows lower on transitioning the top up or down but nothing off the fob or door lock. Dealer guessed it would be a few months before we hear anything. If anyone on this group works for Ford service, could we get an update or even a work-around. I have this feature on other cars and i use it - especially the "all close" feature when leaving and securing the car.

You need to have the active alarm for this to work. However, I was at my dealer's yesterday, and one of the guys there told me that Ford discontinued it from January onwards. My V6 was built in December, so it works, but they said any car built after January, it does not work. Hope this helps.

Power Window Global feature no longer available

This is what the dealer handed me when I left the car to have it turned on yesterday 4/21/05. Mine was built on 3/5/05. He said it could not be turned on and he did check the options in the computer set up menu. This is what the printout the dealer gave me said.


TSB 18555 Speical service messages

"2005 mustang vehicles built after January 3,2005 and equipped with the optional active anti theft system, do not have the power window "global open-global closed" function. The global open -global closed function of the power windows has been discontinued. This function cannot be reactivated on these vehicles.

Efective date 4/18/2005 "


If somone has a fix I would like to hear it. I wanted that cool feature!

There MUST be a work around. Not to mension that I bought an optional upgrade feature pack (set of features) that is now degraded (some advertised features do not work or are no longer offered). I should get some money back! Albeit a trivial amount - it is the principle.

The windows will come down at random times without the owner's knowlege/request. I'd like to have mine work because of the heat in the summer down here in Florida, but I'm not going to risk a rainstorm ruining my interior either.

The dealer can reactivate it if you have the Active Anti-Theft oprion. They just have to want to. All they need to do is plug their computer into the junction box under the dash and "enable" the feature. Just had mine reactivated last weekend.

That kind-of makes sense.

To completely take the feature out, would take quite a bit of expense for Ford. They would need to re-do the design, re-test it, and re-qualify it. Simply turning it 'off', but leaving the rest in place, would be the cheapest and least risk.

So without a PITA, it is best to just go there and ask... I GUESS... I DO WANT IT though!

Hell, I have to go get a new fuel tank anyway... LOL!

STILL can't complain though. Too many grins per thousand miles... HEHE!
