Kick panel speakers - intereferes with clutch operation?

Hi,

This is my first post here. My dad and I are building a 67 fastback and it is currently at the stereo shop.

There are boston pro series speakers in the kick panels. They had to space them out about an inch or so. There is not nearly enough space between the speaker and the clutch pedal to put your foot through and rest it on the firewall area. Even if the spacer was taken out it wouldn't be enough.

Will this interefere with driving in any way? Is the speaker high enough so it isn't a problem to put your foot under it?
Has anyone had any kind of ergonomic issues with kick panel speakers?

These questions may sound dumb, but we have never driven the car so it is difficult to judge.

Thanks

Without the kick panel speakers, is there a place to rest your foot beside the clutch pedal? (I know there is no dead pedal).

From pictures, it looks like the speaker is pretty high, so there might be room under it. I'll go to the shop tonight and look.

Is it really a pain to drive these cars with kick panel speakers?

There really isn't much room for a proper dead pedal even without the kick panel speakers. So, when I installed my kick panel speakers, I didn't notice a difference. It won't bother you.

I don't have kick panels in mine right now and there isn't much room. My only thought about driving, however, is this: can you get to the high beem switch? If so I really don't think it is going to be an issue.

Just wondering? For those of you with convertibles, and kick panel speakers, do the kick panel speakers stick out further than the inner rocker panels on a convertible? If they don't, it should not be a problem on coupes and fastbacks because the clutch, high beam switch, etc. are all designed to sit inside and clear the convertible inner rockers from the factory.
David.
