Hi all--

Got myself a set of the already colored kickpanels with speaker holes precut in them for the 66 GT Coupe. I didn't get the provided speakers as I wanted to get better ones and I thought the offered ones were a bit pricey for what you got.

Anyone have these panels with nice speakers in them? What are you using? They guy at the parts place said that the speakers needed to be 1 3/4 inch deep, or the magnets would hit on the inside of the footwell. Don't know that to be the case, though. That is what is causing the problem. Having trouble finding speakers to fit the bill.

So, what're you using?

Thanks!

I'm using 5 1/4" MB Quartz up front. If your puttin 6x9s in the back, definately get really good speakers up front, the 6x9s tend to drown them out pretty bad. I both the front and rear speakers in the same quality mid-range level and have to put the fader up quite a bit to compensate. Go with better ones up front.

Anyway, to fit them the shop used spacers, as seen in the picture below, hope this helps.

The only ones I know that work are in the Pioneer line. They are a 6.5" plate speaker. Very shallow! The lower end versions are made for the kickpanels and I do not know the name...
