Well, Im happy he didnt kill himself or some innocent family driving home from visiting the relatives for easter. But I hope they do him up, but since the jails are over crowded, that won't happen. He will get a nice big fine, probably some community service, and probation, with his license suspended, oh wait his was already supended DUMB @SS and he didnt have any car insurrance either, Wow

Doh. Know him for the same reason Dave (Rootus) does.

Last time I saw the car the windsheild was all cracked up. Im surprised someone wanted to go 140 something with a cracked up windsheild.

Sorry Greg :-/ Stay out of this one.

I like the part of the story where they say the cop was chasing him (also at well over 100) with NO LIGHTS OR SIREN.... gee that was safe.

But of course it's ok for cops to break the law.

While I have definately been speeding on the freeway. I would say he's a dumba@@ if actually admitted to doing 140mph. I thought the rule was never admit how fast you actually were going.

In my experience it will usually hurt you more to try and lie about it than to just own up to it. Trying to lie your way out of it implies the cop is stupid, and this is not how you want him to feel as he decides what to charge you with. If he has you on radar, combined with his own observation, you cannot hurt yourself any more by confessing.

I admitted to a cop once that I was doing 135-145. He said he only had me on the radar at 129. Thats all he wrote the ticket for too.

It was in the middle of Texas, on I10 with noone else around (so I thought). He didnt arrest me, nor even charge me with anything other than speeding.

The fine was $245 for anything over 95 (20 ove rthe 70 mph limit).

I paid $260 because the lady at the courthouse (tiny town, she was the only one that worked there other than the occasional judge) told me that if I paid more than $10 too much they had to send a check back for the difference. If the check wasnt cashed, they could never close the file. If they couldnt close the file, they couldnt report the infraction to the state or to insurance. She said that 129 was nothing. She had seen over 180mph before. And they recieved the same $245 ticket

Somehow I don't ever expect to be treated like that again.

A couple of things:

As the speeding car wove in and out of traffic, Klare followed stealthily -- no lights or sirens. As he raced to catch up, Klare saw a streak of brake lights cut across lanes of traffic before exiting at Foster Road.

...who Klare said was driving without insurance and with a suspended license.

So let me get this straight...

Some of you guys are actually sticking up for this a$$hat even though he was weaving in and out of traffic, driving without a license AND no insurance? And then to top it off they have video of him, Ryan Allan Chump, DRIVING HIS CAR AWAY FROM IMPOUND!!!

But here's the one that kills me...

At the bottom of the ramp sat Ryan Allan Champ, 19, of Oregon City, waiting for a stoplight.

So this guy does 140 down the freeway, weaves in and out of traffic and then waits for a red light? I suppose he also had his turn signal on.

I say that Darwin missed this time but I'm sure he'll get another chance in the near future.

I got clocked going 98 coming down the pass once. I was out of sight before the cop got his lights on, it took him 15 minutes to catch me (I slowed down to 60 when I got into Issaquah). he was very irate, but got called to an accident or shooting so he had to let me go. needless to say, I took my get out of jail card and chilled out a bit.

I don't think anyone is really sticking up for him, we are simply able to recognize that namecalling would be hypocritical. There are very few innocents here.

Hypocritical in what way? I'm calling it like I see it. If you catch me driving without insurance and/or a license at a high rate of speed, then by all means, call me what you like.

BTW, for those in the cheap seats, saying that this guy is a dumba$$ doesn't make one a hypocrite. Had it been said that "I have never done anything like that..." then you can start crying hypocrisy.

Which one is worse? Driving at a high rate of speed, without insurance, or without a valid license? Obvious answer, the 140+ mph speed run is the worst part of it. Having no insurance is the next worst, and driving with a suspended license is a non-issue (to other drivers on the road, at least).

Have you ever driven well over 100 mph? To avoid being hypocritical, you just have to accept that you are a dumbass too, and that your car should have been put in a compactor, etc, etc, etc... to be fair.

Actually to avoid being hypocritical, I would just have to stay away from stating that I'd never done anything like that. Please show me where that has been stated. Otherwise, this is a moot point.

BTW, are you stating that you are a dumbass, etc, etc, etc...?

I saw this kid on the news today. He was saying how wrong he was, etc, blah, blah, blah. All I could think about was they had him with his car and it had a Torque Freaks windshield banner on it. Great advertising huh... I don't know if it is good or bad. Torque Freaks must be happy.

Watch... this kid will be the next poster child for NOT street racing as his community service.

I wouldn't say 90% I mean yeah with the gearing, lightweight, and horsepower of that civic he will take a good number of us...but there are plenty of people on here that could roll with him no doubt...I personally know people on here with 10 sec stangs...so I wouldn't go so far as 90%

My car doesn't run anywhere near 10 sec, and Ive still got a nice crisp 100 any time this guy thinks his H22 will take my stang.

He might win, and then again he might not....
