So I'm driving home on a pretty busy little street tonight. Beautiful New (no tags yet) 911 keeps pulling up beside me. I give him the thumbs up for his smokin ride. He looks over, repeatedly but never gives me so much as a smile and wave.

After about 3 miles, I have to turn right, so does he. I get in the right turn lane, he does the same. New road is awfully empty. He's behind a pick up which is directly behind me. The light is red. I stop and turn right, then the truck, then Mr. Porsche. I'm about 100-150 yards ahead by the time he makes the turn and he rockets around the truck. I'm in third gear now keeping it around 3000 rpms (my cam loves 3500 up) He's getting on it moderately aggressively as he gains on me. Right about my rear bumper he opens it up. Very different sound, but freakin awesome.

I punch it and I'm right in the sweet spot of my power band. In no time I've got a car length or two on him. At 115 on my speedo I gotta have 3 (I'm thinking about 95 or 100 in the real world 3.70 gears throw it off) I tap the brakes then get on them firmly and come down to 45. He hits them a little harder and stays behind me until he turns left into a neighborhood that I can't afford.

Lets not kid ourselves, cornering, braking, just about any race in the world, he destroys me. But this was the race he decided to enter into.

I've beaten several boxsters, but never figured I could hang with a big dog like the carerra s. What is the weight on one of those things????

First of all, shame on you for racing on a public road Don't you know it's illegal?(in case my kids are reading this) Now, with that out of the way, great job on kicking his a$$!
I'ts true, in the long run, most of us would get out top ended and out handled by that porsche. But he chose our sweet spot and no matter what, he lost

Very nice Eric! After all the $$ you've put into that thing, it's nice to hear it's delivering the fun factor.

Thanks all, it was a kick. I got home and immediately called a couple of my muscle car buddies (gm guys, but nice rides none the less) to tell them of my little unofficial arse kicking. They were almost as stoked as I.

Shame I'm going to be selling it next year when I get my 07 shelby. Then again, not that much of a shame.

I'm sure that side by side from a standing start the Porshe would walk away. Just too much weight on the rear tires to compete without slicks. From 30+ mph I can see where it's possible that you kept up or beat him. Fun time, huh? On a deserted road I can't make myself say anything negative - seems pretty safe and fun.

The only sucky thing is you wonder if the other guy had it wide open. I walked away from a M3 in my $400 beater '85 GT parts car two lights in a row. I could hear his engine winding quite a bit, but I still wonder.
