I was just wondering how many people here with forced induction are using kirban Adjustable fuel Pressure regulator.

Stinger and I are having a problem with making the power both cars are capable of. Both idle and run good, and have no real driveability problems, however they don't pull as hard on the top end as they should.

The kirban is one thing our cars have in common and I couldn't think of much else. I didn't know if there was a diaphragm that is weakened by the extra positive pressure.

Amanda's car can be started and allowed to warm up to operating temp. Drive down my quarter mile driveway easy and don't let the turbo spool you can pull out on on the road, click in into 2nd and stomp it and it will light the tires up and then die in third. Her car doesn't sputter, pop, stall, have boost fluctuations, but just stops pulling hard.

anybody Feel free to throw ideas out there. I want to hear some opinions.

I'm running a Kirban on my 88. Keep in mind this is the only 2.3 turbo car I've ever owned or driven, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, to me, it seems to pull quite well. 2nd does pull harder than 3rd, but I've always attributed that to the tranny ratios. I'm going to the drag strip next week, so soon I'll have some quantifiable numbers on my car. I read Stinger's thread on the subject on TF.. strange. I wish I could help y'all out more, but I really don't have any ideas.

Keep me posted, your car sounds like it should be pretty strong.

I also have the pinouts that I got from Alldata(same ford copywrite)

I'm going to check that as well.
I just finished reading the post on TF and it seems like everything I can think of has been addressed.

I still haven't grounded the Premium switch yet.

The reason I suspect the kirban is, that is one thing that we bought from the exact same company at about the same time.

Could this be stock ignition related rather than fuel?

I didn't get a chance to run the 84 on the dyno once the mods were complete to really test, but I began to having some sputtering problems at or after the 4000 RPM mark. It was traced to Excel wires. Before the LA3 and 35# injectors, 65mm throttle body and 3" exhaust I was not having problems. With more fuel, faster throttle response, and night and day difference on how fast the car would rev under load really brought the pickiness of the ignition system to the forefront. I was using an Accufab FPR set at 40psi. What directed me to this was a friend with an 86 was having similar problems at the 4000 RPM mark and it turned out to be a bad wire (burnt by a hole in his ATR header.)

I've got the Accufab FPR on the 2R now; still set at 40 PSI. I need a small NPR so I can get the rad installed and I'll run some tests. The car has all new Motorcraft parts... cap, plugs, wires and a 255LPH pump.

Stinger, If you want to eliminate the FPR as the problem let me know and I'll send you an Accufab unit. PM me.

I have a Kirban in the LX, and a Holley in the SVO. I've been pleased thus far w/ both.

On the LX I have a fuel pressure guage, and am able to watch the fuel pressure change as vacuum and boost fluctuates. It seems to do just what it is supposed to, add's 1 psi of pressure for ever pound of boost, seems to be dead on.

Car pulls like crazy. I don't think it's the Kirban's as they seem to be universally used on all turboford apps and pleasing everyone.

btw, I've added 3 grounds to the car since I finished it (Cro's wise idea), as is posted constantly the cars love grounds. I added one to the fuel injector harness just to make sure those solenoids had a good +/-. And everywhere the car had a stock ground to the body I removed it, took sandpaper and ground off all the paint and primer where it was grounded so it was metal to metal. I couldn't ask for it to run better than it is right now.

I'm just guessing but I think it's gotta be something stupid and little like that affecting your guys cars.

If Stinger was having a problem related to his Kirban AFPR, it would be very noticeable with his LM1...I'm pretty sure his issue has more to do with timing, spark energy, or intake temperature than fuel.

sounds good. Just running out of reasons.
