Knocking Noise please help

Noise comes on at idle , but car revs up great and took it out down the street and it runs ok . I left the car on for like 15 minutes just ilding and noise continued so not to sure what it is.

Advice needed

only at idle? but not if you crack the throttle?

that would prolly be a rod pinging the block during travel. It will get louder.

id say rod bearing, if the rod was hitting the block, one of them would have been in pieces already

i can rev the car up but the noise doesn't get any louder it stays steady.

The day before it was nocking like every other minute only when it wanted too, but today when i turned it on it was a diff story.

also possibly the timing chain on the cover if it is original / stretched

its a rhythmic knocking in tune with engine rpm, knock, knock, knock? Does it escalate with rpm? If so its a rod bearing alot of times. There easy to hear a mile away

Yeah its a knock ,knock, kock noise , but it does not escalate with rpm it stays steady. It sounds the same at idle as if it would when i rev it up alittle

sounds like the knocking volume stays constant, but as you rev the engine does the the speed of the knocks get faster as well?

yup as the engine turns so does the knocking but it does not get louder the engine drowns the knocking out

Hey what's up Cu-Cuy, I didn't know you posted on here.Have you checked you rockers(shims),check for a slightly bent pushrod,possible weak lifter? Can you hear the noise on the top portion of the engine, is it on the bottom,left or right side?I fyou need any help shoot me a pm.Later...........

Sup bro i think its on the right side drivers ...tomm i work but my dad and uncle are towing it to his house and will tear it apart to try to figure what the hell is wrong with it. My dad put it together so he should have an idea on what it is, he suspects a pushrod or something having to do with the rollers...

a knock is far different than rocker ticking, which is it?

Well we took off the intake and the valve covers and put some valve covers that we had hacked up from the top and put the intake back on..
Turned it on and the f'n noise stoped while we were there i got new gaskets and painted the valve covers. I will be starting it back up tomm and hopefully its running ok. stupid gremlins

Well started her up today with the covers on and she started making that damb noise again, but we used the old hose to ear trick and figured out the problem(water pump) she went bad. We removed the belt and the noise stoped so the knocking noise was the water pump screwing up.

stupid car so now i have to wait for the ups truck to get it running again...
