Searched around a little bit more. Called a different performance shop who doesn't do welding in house, but does work closely with a welder on automotive performance type things. They gave me his number and said he would do it for $600, so i might go that route. Maybe could get a little cheaper if i do the above 'prework' stuff @AeroCoupe mentioned.

Also, as i keep planning my 'build', and thinking about MAF/TB combos that are SMOG legal, are my options the 93 Cobra TB housing, and for MAFs i've been reading 94/95 MAF housings, or Cougar housings. Is there a thread that breaks this down i can search? It would be nice to keep it OEM 'looking', like parts with FORD stamped on them or whatever.

I keep thinking that$600 for subframe connectors welded in is way high.
I have a cousin Joe lives in San Diego ,haven't spoke in awhile but last I heard he restores cars ( he's got a five car garage on his proprty)
Ask around at car meets ,cars and coffee someone has to know a good welder that will do it fairly priced.
Its Joes garage in escodio?

Stock MAF thread here:

Engine Thread 'Sick of stock TB and EGR spacer...'

Dec 15, 2024
So I'm in the process of replacing a lot of stuff during the winter months on our 90 7 up convertible. The whole intake manifold is off the car right now.

Ever since I ditched the bbk 70mm throttle body I've dealt with coolant leaking between the stock EGR spacer and throttle body. The parts I bought were used. I'm assuming something isn't square. These manifold studs are trick flow and I put these on less than 2 years ago. Assuming it's not normal for them to be rusty? Maybe put anti seize on them?

Either way, I'm seriously thinking about buying a accufab 65mm throttle body and...

So something like this?

But will my Fox MAF sensor work in this housing? That thread talks about using a SN95 sensor. Or do I need this housing and also a 94/95 MAF sensor?

I seem to recall people using the Lightning MAF in the past, but I don't have a link to it.

The MAF you posted will work and my understanding is you use the stock sensor.

I bought a cougar MAF housing and will put a 94/95 sensor in it. Both are 70mm and rated for 19# injectors. I'll report back this spring.

Been reading up on superchargers. Was kind of dead set on the kenne bell, but was also looking at the Vortech v3 sci and that lead me to looking into the Paxton novi 1220SL. A lot of people are saying the Paxton is the Vortech v3 sci but with better parts (seems mostly the 8 rib setup vs 6 rib). Anyways, summit racing has the Paxton for $400 off, which puts it right inline with the Vortech… and roughly $2k cheaper than the kenne bell.

Thinking of pulling the trigger on the Paxton… thoughts?

Either one of those will be good for that SC.

I’m guessing with just the TFS heads and an ‘entry level’ supercharger, everything else mostly stock (injectors and MAF not?) I shouldn’t really be more than 350ish rwhp right? With the supercharger I don’t see a need to immediately swap the intake and I want to leave the cam stock.

Pics for pics sake:

I need to pair the injectors to the MAF right? Or does that all get sorted via the dyno tune? I’ll probably buy that Cougar MAF housing at some point. I need to be CARB legal or look CARB legal so something obvious like a Pro-M is out.

I never had my old fox dynoed or tuned so I’m a little unfamiliar with that aspect of a build. Still ripped tho!
