Postion 16 in the fuse box? Pull the fuse and use a test light to confirm that one side of the other in the fuse box has 12V+. Then either visually check the fuse or test continuity with a DVM.

Joined a gym finally which means i won't need my garage for my 'garage gym' anymore. Sounds like i'll be pulling the stang into the garage, hopefully that means more regular wrenching time at night. Would be nice not to have to work outside in the cold and dark, which reduces most motivation.

Also been reading up on the Paxton installation. I FEEL like i'm in a little over my head reading Paxtons instruction manual, mainly becuase its just words and not many pictures, i'm a visual learner. BUT, i bought this car to learn more so i want to tackle it myself. I'll watch a bunch of youtube videos, etc. as well.

Another thing i'm wondering about is that i put the 93 Cobra pullies on, which changed the crank, alternator and waterpump pullies. The Paxton kit looks like it comes with a stock type crank pulley/supercharger crank pulley thing all in one. I wonder if i'll have to put back my stock alternator and waterpump pullies back on if the Paxton kit reverts back to a stock-like crank pulley?

Or,

Does the Paxton super charger crank pulley bolt onto my existing crank pulley? Wasn't 100% clear on that.

You'll probably need to run the factory crank pulley. In that kit the supercharger pulley slides into the factory crank pulley. So your crank pulley is most likely too small for that to happen.

Your kit is the 8 rib already. So alternately you could run a one peice accessory / supercharger pulley. I believe the Vortec pulleys work with that kit but you'd have to call to confirm. They offer both underdrive and standard accessory pulley sizes.

The most challenging part will probably be tapping the oil pan for the oil return. One thing I like about the Vortec V3's is that the oil is self contained so you don't have to run the oil lines. Just have to change it from time to time.

One issure I had with my Vortech kit was my alternator. I had upgraded to a larger PA performance alt and I required some fabrication for everything to fit right. So if you have a larger alternator that's something to think about.

Thankfully the 1220SL kit is a self contained head unit so I don’t need to run oil lines.

I have heard there may be some modification to the alternator needed as I am also running a 3G alternator.

If the Paxton crank pulley fits inside my existing crank pulley I don’t know why it wouldn’t work then… the kit doesn’t exclude 93 cobras as far as I can tell.
I haven’t installed one but fairly detailed install here:

Awesome, watched that video, guy does a good job of breaking what was in the video down into layman’s terms. I have a feeling I’ll run into little issues like he did I.e. struggled with the fuel lines hooking up the FMU and needing new o-rings, etc.

Just hooking up lines to the right connections makes me nervous, like accidentally hooking up a return line hose to the fuel delivery line, lol. That’s where pictures and videos would help me.

The actual supercharger from Summit is on back order and won’t be shipped until February, I want to swap my fuel pump out before then with my walbro 255lph one I have. I remember swapping a fuel pump in my last Fox when I was in college without disconnecting the filler neck… I just leaned the tank at an angle and was able to do it. I’d rather not have to remove the entire tank.

I’m calling it now once I start this endeavor I’m gonna guess it’s gonna take me 3 months to finish it lol

I’ll send my ecu out for refurbishment during this time too.

Nice. I looked up the kit and read through the instructions. They must put the oil lines info in the instructions for all the kits. I see now it says for the 1220sl to skip. You'll like that for sure.

On mine the alternator had some clearance issues with the smog pump. If you run into an issue I can see if I can find some pictures of what I did.

Yup. As long as it fits inside you'llbe good. I had an underdrive pulley on my car and the pulley wouldn't fit in it. Maybe the cobra pulley is bigger than mine was.

I would drop the tank all the way. Buy a new fuel tank filler neck gasket and just replace it now as it’s old as hell and is probably going to start leaking right after the swap.
I did just have every seal on my gas tank replaced back in October when i was going through issues getting it to pass SMOG. But i will inspect everything once i lower the tank and see what needs to be done. Wondering if i should just replace the sending unit while i have it down as well, although my fuel guage seems to work as it should.

As a Motorhead, or Petrolhead down under(someplace) you have two choices, #1 if it ain't broke don't fix it, #2 fix it till it's broke.
Well you know me, trigger happy on the 'order' button. Purchased a new sending unit, pump hangar assembly (so i can preassemble the pump assembly in full), tank vapor valve, fuel tank strap stud kit, ignition coil, PCV valve & grommet, and the Cobra grill insert to get free shipping (order was split between RockAuto and LMR). These parts in conjunction with my '10 minute tune up' parts waiting to go on, i.e. plugs, wires, cap, rotor will chip away at getting things running smoothly.

Geez, that was like one of the cheaper ones. Should i just go to o'reilly's or whatever and see if they have one?

A dial for setting advance comes in handy but for our cars... Nothing fancy is required.

Check on your other vehicles and see if they require anything fancy so you got one that works on all.

Most critical thing on a timing light is a bright light...... The cheapy ones years ago had to be used only at night, you could not use them in daytime......

Good point. Our two other cars are Toyota brand, my wife will be getting rid of hers for a full electric vehicle next year (she works outside sales in the Greater San Diego, so an EV really makes perfect sense for her). My DD is a v8 4runner which is a tank, its COP and i don't know if ive even noticed a distributor on it. i think timing is set via the cam gears? TBH i'm not too sure.
Thank you.
