I wonder of you could ditch the brass fitting on the boost guage and use something like what's on the factory emissions hard lines. Something like:

just a generic link, not sure what size you'd actually need. A little 3m weatherstrip adhesive on the tube might be needed to glue it in, or something similar.

I did that to fix one of my emissions lines when I had them on the car. It broke right where the hard lines goes into the rubber end. I shoved the hard line completely through the rubber end. Then warmed it up a little with a hair dryer and pushed an awl in the hard line a little to flare it. Then when it cooled off I put some 3m adhesive on it and pulled it back through the rubber. The flange I made pulled tight into the rubber. Worked good.

Just a thought if you have more issues with the compression connector.

I’ll give it one more shot with the ferrule and brass fitting. I’m sure it was user error not seating the ferrule correctly inside the fitting before tightening it down.

If it leaks again this sounds like a good option though, thanks!

Got my vacuum block in and added the additional ports. I’m hoping the one male NPT fitting will fit the boost gauge female fitting.

So from left to right I’m thinking:

- source
- brake booster
- FMU
- bypass valve (eventually)
- A/C
- boost gauge
- cruise control?

I have a bunch of other fittings to make sure everything fits, I might have my sizes off a little bit currently.

Goal was to not have a bunch of tees branching off lines.

Have been tossing around the idea of wrapping the car. This won’t happen for a while, need to be back in my house and have the garage (and after alllllll the parts I have accumulated get installed).

I’ve been looking at the 3M 2080 “hot rod” red gloss. The more my car sits outside in the sun the more it looks pretty trash and faded. $782 + shipping/tax for a 5’ x 75’ roll. Could be a good learning process too.

I haven’t hooked up the new vacuum tree yet unfortunately. I miiiiight have time today, but that’s a little iffy. Depends on when my permatex thread sealer comes in from Amazon. (4 year old is also on spring break this week so that’s gonna make wrenching time tough to come by)

I suspect it will run better though as just bypassing the boost gauge while I sort that out and having the FMU on its own dedicated line to the tree I swear she runs better already.

I In fact did not have time to install the vacuum distribution block and only have time to quickly take a passing photo while walking a napping baby:

Just wasting away getting dirty, baking in the sun (although we did have a small sprinkle overnight hence the vents being covered), not getting driven at all this week.

Roof shingles and plywood are off. They’ve torn more walls down and removed the wall/closet where we are expanding the entry way:

The blue up there are tarps covering the exposed house.

So I have rear 5lug disks and never did the modification to my ebrake handle (so it basically doesn’t work). Standard method is to weld something and cut the spring. Apparently LMR now sells this:

Which is supposed to take the place of the welding part. Anyone use it? I think I’ll pick it up and give it a try.

Several folks have and it works. I believe it stemmed from a TSB on the 94 and up cars.

Yes I have that on my 93 ,got it off a 95@the pic a part, same 95 I got the proportioning valve.

Oh damn I must be late to the party this is news to me. Is it not a new part? I would’ve done this a long time ago since I can’t weld, and would have a working ebrake.

Recall was in late 2000 and applying it to the 87-93 ebrake handle has been done since the late 2000’s from what I remember.

Replaced my positive battery cable today. Man, i need to clean up some of the wiring in that area. What a mess. My solenoid has a lot going on with it! I did wire brush all the ring terminals before putting them back on, as well as the solenoid post.

Old cable with random cut off wires:

New cable:

New cable IS smaller gauge than what was on there. Hopefully that's not an issue.

I just bought a replacement positive battery cable since mine was looking jerryrigged and the terminal kept corroding. It looks somewhat clean in that photo because i recently cleaned it, but the corrosion comes back fairly quickly. I have no clue how far down the actual cable the corrosion goes so i figured i'd just replace the entire cable. The PO must have put that old cable on it, I didn't.

But I do have a 3G 130amp alternator. If that requires a larger battery cable then i'll just have to replace it again.

Also, this happened yesterday when I changed/cleaned my #7 cylinder plug, but I forgot to actually connect my plug wire back on the new plug when i was done, doh! I drove the car like 1/10th of a mile before realizing what I did. Car was making a ticking noise, but ran 'fine'? Pulled over on the side of the road and popped the plug wire back on and car instantly felt better and no ticking.

This wouldn't cause any damage would it? Fuel not being burnt off in the cylinder? Fuel dilution in the oil?
