I can't remember what my spacing was, but it's very close to what Dark used...huh, imagine that

Anyways, I think mine are about 3 1/2" to 3 3/4" apart on center. What I did was measure from the top inside edge of both tail lights, taped several strips (each a few inches wide to fit between the bottom of the brake lens and the honeycomb panel) of paper together just a little bit longer than that, marked what I measured the width between the lights, went out to the car, taped the paper across the trunk, marked dead center under the third brake light (I believe there is a tiny raised bump on the lens there), took it back inside, laid it on the table, equally divided each half in 4 parts, centered the letters on each of those marks, drew a box around each letter, moved the letters, cut out the boxes. All that wording for a template

Back out to the car and taped the template on the trunk. The template allowed for proper location of the letters
and ensured I wouldn't have to guess as to where to use the rubbing alcohol for the double sided tape to minimize unnecessary wax removal. The process seems much longer after I typed it out here, but only took me about 10-15 minutes before I was placing the letters on the car. There isn't much adhesive there, but I haven't had any problems with them. I just take care when washing over/around them
