Ride *quality* is the spring/dampener combination. KYB is an okay replacement when using stock springs. Yet, when one increases the spring rate, KYB gives a harsh ride.
New arms will change the handling characteristics while slightly changing the ride quality.

went w/ a set of kyb's on my daily driver and it rides nice. Not too stiff and the car is lowered 2" I have Koni's on my other car and It rattles your bones.

I've got KYB's on my stock height car and it seems a little too stiff. Mainly the rear. I would get tokicos if I had it to do over again. Control arms aren't going to help your ride quality. They'll help in cornering and launching, though.

Have the adjustables on my 84 with "C" springs and the non-adjustables on my vert with Eibachs. Amazing ride quality compared to stock. Well worth the extra money IMHO.OL' WHITEY said:
KYB's are probally the best bang for the buck "plus one" performance shock/strut. No they arn't the best, but thier price is almost the same as regular replacments, but they are more for perfromance. Matching components weather it's the drivetrain or suspension is very important. On a stock suspension KYB's are probally the best perfromance shock you can get. They will still perform well even with mild springs. The shocks and springs arn't the weak point of a foxbody suspension, rear end stability is more the downfall. Bilstiens are proball the best all around shock but come with a price tag a little higher than most want to pay. My truck will be getting bilstiens soon. I had KYB's on my old ford escort gt, my foxbody, and my old beater I used to have. Great shocks, no issues.
Cool cause I have a full set of KYB non-adjustable shocks and struts along with a new set of Caster/Camber adjuster plates in my hatch right now waiting installation. Should be done this weekend...

You get what you pay for. I ran KYB GR2's on my GT with an Eibach Prokit and it handled well enough, but they didn't last long. I got a couple years out of them, and they turned to mush. Now I have Bil's, and they are far superior in both ride quality and handling, and they have a lifetime warrantee. The last shocks I will ever buy... try getting that out of KYB's. Or any other shock, for that matter...

Konis and Tokicos have a lifetime warranty as well. I consider those and the Bils to be in the same classs.stangbear427 said:

Shox.com has a low-price guarantee. I have actually held them up to it and got both sets of Toks from them.

Koni's maybe... Tokicos? Not quite. Also, not all Bil's are created equal. Mine are only available from MM.

I recently put KYB struts/quad shocks on mine with "C" springs and poly bushings in the stock control arms, hell of a difference over the stock stuff, and work perfectly with the springs, no change in NVH and rides like it should have from the factory, and it feels like I could actually push the thing in a turn and not plow through it like before...

For the record, I was talking about the non-adjustable KYB's. They're okay I guess, compared to stock, but I'd rather have something else. I think the adjustable KYB's would be better.

KYB Non-adjustable = JUNK !!! Had a set on last summer for three months and couldn't take it any more. Pulled them and installed a set of Koni's. Like night and day. So I have a set of Non-adjustable KYB's for sale if any one want them. Cheap!
