Lack of pressure?????

I believe my 89 GT has a cooling problem. My electrical AutoMeter Gauge says I am at 210-220 while driving and creeps up if I idel for more than a few min. The AutoMeter sender is mounted in the intake manifold in place of the OEM sender. I have an aluminum radiator and recently flushed the system. The hoses never feel like they are under pressure. I just replaced the radiator cap with a 16 psi cap and no change. With the engine up to temp and the radiator cap off I can see the coolant moving slowly through the radiator. I believe the water pump is working because the radiator hoses will get hot but they will not feel like they have any pressure in them. Any suggestions?

Another question - where can I get a water neck with a threaded hole so I can install the AutoMeter sender in the water neck and re-install the OEM sender in the manifold so my OEM gauge will work.

i think you can get a chrome neck from ford racing. my cast stocker has a bung that looks like it could be used. .....
or you can stick the stock sender in the rear of the lower intake. it is less accurate, but it fits the gauge pretty nice (both being inaccurate). good luck.

i highly recommend the Mr Gasket stats - fully balanced, open fully sooner, flow better, and have a bleed hole - for 10 bucks.

yeah, definetly change your tstat to a mr gasket one. definetly worth the extra 3 bucks, :rlaugh: . but yeah, it sounds like a tstat problem.
