I have looked at various posts regarding the t5 swap into an early (66) stang and haven't found anything very specific to this combination. The question I have is follows: Can I use the lakewood scattershield as is without modification to directly bolt an 1988 t5 to and will the input shaft length be correct or do I need a transmission spacer with this or the clutch fork spacer or both? Also, can I use the original z bar setup or do I have to go to a cable setup (cheaper than hydraulic). I understand that I have to use a modified crossmember to mount the transmission rear and the driveshaft has to be shortened. Can I use my original automatic driveshaft and modify that (don't plan on ever using it and if the splines are correct, would rather have this cut up). Every post I have seen refers to either an original bellhousing or an t5 bellhousing but is misleading to what I currently have. TIA, Brian

Not sure on the scattershield question, but try the driveshaft as is before having it cut up. I got lucky with mine and just swapped the yoke and it fit perfect. From what I have read, some will fit, while others need to be cut.

In my 67 I used a McLeod scattershield behind a 347 stroker and in front of a T5. Kept the stock Z-bar linkage. Did not need any type of spacer but did use a special crossmember. Bought the whole setup from Modern Driveline. My driveshaft was marginal in terms of length (only 5/8" of the yoke was exposed) so I had a new one made that was 3/8" shorter. Could have shortened the original but didn't want to cut it up.
