Late 1967 - Little Box on back of Ignition Case Switch, What is it? (Have Pictures)

Hi,

I'm trying to troubleshoot my ignition system. I've pretty much replaced everything except the ignition switch and this little box (No idea what it is). The box is located on the back of the ignition switch case. It is bolted down to the center stud on the switch and a purple wire is connected to the box.I'm going to replace the ignition switch shortly, but before I do that I would like to know what this little box is on the back. Should I replace it too? Where would I get one if I wanted to replace it? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yep, that's what it is. I can get one at the local NAPA for I think a few bucks less than $10, so I'm betting you can too. Point being that you are right there's no need to get one until you dig into the AC.
