Anyone put 07-09 Mustang seats in a 65/66? If so how did you deal with the floor pan height/ head clearance issue? I picked up a set of 08 Shelby, black, leather seats that I'd like to put in my 66 coupe.
I'd love to know how this turns out. You can shorten the seat pans, but it invloves some metal work probably beyond my skills. I'm thinking I remember Mustangs Plus having a how to on that on their website or maybe in an old catalog. Whether you can get enough height out for the late model seats, I don't know.
I have a copy of the Mustangs Plus catalog that shows the seat pan mod. I have no problem shortening the pans, but the 05 and newer seats are much longer, front to back, so the pans would need to be extended as well. I'd like to eliminate the pans all together and go with some cross bracing (1x3 tubing) that follows the pan contours. I'm concerned about loss of structural strength by loosing the pan...
Not sure I follow. The tubing would go through the seat pan (front to back)? Not a bad idea. I'll still have to lower the pans almost 2" anyway, which puts the back end at next to nothing in height. There's quite a bit of overhang, almost 9" with the late model seats.
