I can get a set of 03 Mach-1 springs for $50.00, will they fit my 86? My 4 banger springs are sagging big time. Used search, I found they fit on 87+ figured they would fit the 86?

They fit fine. The main difference you have to worry about with a pre-87 is that the rack is in the way of the front bolts for the FCA. However, since you're in FL, you may be okay. But, for many other people, the bolts are rusted to the sleeves in the FCA and they must be cut out with a saws-all, etc.

I have the Mach1 springs on my '86.

Opps, I just noticed - bad cut and paste when I did my edits. Let me fix the *ordering* of my sentences.

The main difference you have to worry about with a pre-87 is that the rack is in the way of the front bolts for the FCA. Also, for many people, the bolts are rusted to the sleeves in the FCA and they must be cut out with a saws-all, etc. However, since you're in FL, you may be okay.

I'll add to get *new* bolts and nuts. For a pre-87, for the front bolts & nuts, I just trimmed some off the bolt and put the head off the bolt on the "inside" of the FCA and the nut near the tie-rod/rack. That way, you don't have to remove or move the rack to put the front bolt & nut on.

I got the nuts and bolts from:

Also, it's likely a good idea to change the FCA and get new FRPP (Ford) FCAs with the "forever" ball joints and the stiffer bushings. Summitt sells them. But, I think they went up to ~$200 for a pair. After 21 years, it might be a good idea to get new ball joints. That was my view. Plus, my bolts rusted to the bushing sleeves. So, I needed new ball joints and new sleeves.

Also, there's a very good chance that your lower isolator is gone after all these years (fully compressed and you're close to having metal(spring) on metal(FCA)). Get a new ones, or use the ones off of the Mach1 springs.

Good Luck!
