Latest project - quite the mess

A friend of mine has asked me to restore his car for him. It is quite the basket case. Here are some pics that make the car look pretty solid, but it is truly a mess. The front right floor support is toast, along with the part of the frame rail it attaches to. The front left floor is gone, but the frame and inner rocker seems okay. Currenlty, I have the motor out of the car and the interior stripped out, and should start cutting and welding toward the end of the week. Basically, it will have a new underbody, including floors, partial frame rails, floor supports, engine compartment, and interior. It is a 6 cylinder car that he wants me to convert to a V8, so I will start to replace components for that also. I will post more pics of the damage when they are uploaded.

I am getting paid for it, but he is also getting a very good deal. That's what friends are for. It wouldn't be worth it as Oboe said, if it had to be done by a body shop or something. I can basically do it all for him, and another buddy of mine has offered to give him a really good deal on paint. He definitely didn't get a good deal on the car itself, maybe overpaid a bit but not too bad, we're talking a couple hundred bucks or so maybe. The 6 cyl. runs great and the tranny is in good shape. Mechanically, the car is pretty sound. It is my first project to this extent so I also look forward to the challenge. It is a lot of work, but great experience. I will post more pics once he sends them to me.

PS. It is agreed upon by my wife that I can find a 68 (67 will work too) convertible project in much the same condition as this project, hopefully a little better though. The money I make on this car is going to go directly to the purchase of a 67 or 68 vert. It doesn't matter if it is a 6 cyl or V8...
