hey guys, finally going to the track again. after so many things, rearend, t5 swap, bolt ons, learning to drive better.

i hope the blow the old 16.8 out of the water.
i need some tips on lauching.
on the street, i rev the motor to about 2500, dump it and give it some gas, the tires will spin, as the rpms get up to around 4-5k(pretty quickly), i let off and start feathering it until it grabs shortly after.

i dont know, but should my DRs hook up good at the track, i will get a decent burnout in. maybe i will be able to actually give it WOT in 1st and not spin.

tell me how u guys lauch on the street and the track...
thanks

The best way to get a good launch is to do a good burn out, then put it in reverse and bark the tires a little, stop then put it in first keeping pressure on the rear end all the way to the lights, then spool it up to about 4- 4500 and launch the crap out of it. I know it sounds weird, you might want to practice it a little on the street to figure it out. Some how it locks the rear so it wont slip and let one of the tires spin. It works! But im not sure why? Does anyone else know this trick?

i'm sure you'll beat your old time easy.........

depending on what kinda shape your t-5 is currently in you might not wanna go too nutty on the launch with slicks.......you've got slicks, you've got a better grabbing clutch than stock......so the weak link is the t-5 now and depending on how strong you think it is you might wanna start out slow the first run and see what it does.......

good luck.........make sure to post your times:SNSign: i'm sure you'll be somewhere in the 14's if your tranny holds.......

you have to find that sweet rpm where you wont kill the motor and wont burn up the tires. i run rpm up to about 2100 and release the clutch with a little feathering to prevent spinning this takes practice by time the clutch is fully released you should be about 3/4 way to wide open throttle get to wide open throttle as soon as possible without burning tires off it really hurts to release gas to gain traction. i take rpm up to about 5600-5700 rpm stay in the groove(the sweet sticky part of the track) and power shift into second then 5600-5700 rpm power shift into 3rd and so on to 4th depending on rear end gear size. you will not need 5th gear you will want to shift but don't in the 1/4 mile.you need to find your power band and the rpm your motor starts falling off shift before or at this point i shift mine is about 5600 to 5700 rpm you can find shifting rpm by driving experience with your car or a dyno shop can test your car and tell you power band rpm.i let my son drive my car at ths strip this past weekend and ran a 14.4. good luck.and heat those tires up and find the fast lane and in that fast lane there will be a fast groove find it alot of times a good spotter at the track will line you up in it. and i always exit the second exit on track so i dont burn up my brakes.
