Leak at back of intake following Cobra install...

Anything I can do to slow or stop this w/o taking the intake off?

(not thinking very optomistically about it...)

did you use the cork gasket for the rear? everyone says those suck so i didn't use it. i just gobbed on a sh:t ton of black rtv. haven't seen a single drip anywhere.

I junked the rubber gaskets on mine. I put dimples on the mating surfaces of the block and manifold, then RTV'd it up. Dimples keep the dried up silicone from sliding around in there.

The answer to your question is "NO". Take it apart and reseal it. Make sure you seal the small space/crack between the block deck and the heads under the lower plenum as well.

Yeah, I didn't use the rubber gaskets that were with the set... just RTV...

apparently not quite enough, sucks...


Guess I'll get on that here soon...
glad I got one install under my belt, second time around shouldn't be as bad, lol i hope...

Just use the rubbers with a spot of rtv on each corner of the intake. That works the best for me (no leaks).

I used the rubber gaskets and rtv. I tried just the RTV and it gave me the problems you are having now. Apparently i didn't put enough on it the first time around. Haven't had any problems since using the rubber and rtv.

It may not have been the amount you used but the time you allowed before squishing it all down with the intake. I'll usually leave the sealant to cure a while (30 to 60 min) on a normal day so that it's "tacky" before dropping the intake on it and torquing it to spec.

Otherwise, you run the risk of squishing sealant out of various places while you're doing the torque sequence.

Everyone has their "favorite" sealant that they like to use. I like the Permatex Gasket Maker that comes in the "Cheese Wiz" can. No muss, no fuss.
