I have the new style Bassani X pipe for my 97 Cobra that comes in 5 pieces with the small round cats. It all fit well but I have a leak infront of the RHS cat. It is leaking even though the band clamp is TIGHT. I am wondering does anyone know if it would help if i loosened up the band clamp and moved the cat up 1/4" at a time if that might help stop the leak? I would weld it but Bassani was clear about that voiding the lifetime warranty. I just want to stop the leak!

Any help is appreciated.

Try some high heat silicone sealing.

My thoughts exactly. Permatex copper exhaust sealant. I'd put it on the edge of the inside pipe, slide them together, clamp them and let it sit for a little bit. The heat of the exhaust will take care of the rest of curing. That should fix your leak - might be a PITA to get back apart, but what else can you do?

Yeah I HAVE to fix it ... the noise is driving me crazy and I have only put 100 miles on it. I will pick up some permatex and try that if repositioning the cat on the pipe does not stop the leak.
