please excuse my ignorance but I,m installing a LeCarra steering wheel on my 66 coupe.I placed in the 2 cancellation pins in the 2 holes near the center of the adapter. 2 questions-
1-how far do they project out and
2-(more importantly)-where do I place the pins in relationship to the turning signal switch-each end of the switch has a long and a short projection.Do I placed the pins between both ends equidistantly.I know this sounds like a dumb question but I am a little confused about it.

1. I tapped the pins in with a hammer. They are a tight fit so I squeezed them with some pliers. I put them in far enough so they won't fall out. Maybe 1/8" in? It was hard to tell by looking at the time...

2. Not sure I understand the question but the pins will need to be tapped inwards towards the steering shaft so that they cancel the turn signal in each direction, but so that they do not hit the other cancel bar when the wheel is turned fully. The turn signal switch pivots, rather than circulates, which can cause this. It's more of a precise placement than I was expecting. I used a hammer and a screwdriver (as a punch) to very carefully tap the pins inwards as needed once everything was installed.

A few tips that I picked up with the LeCarra:

a. Tape up the hub collar rather than tighten it down while final tweaking. You can see what's working or not as turning the wheel rather than guessing. And the extremely tiny collar screw is easy to strip....

b. Sand the copper tracks down a bit lightly around the edges only to remove any small burrs that might catch the turn signal switch contact pins and break them.

c. Use a good grease to lightly coat the same copper tracks so the switch contact pins can move along the face freely and quietly. Lithium grease is probably ok; I went with some red grease I had on hand.

BTW which LeCarra did you get? I went with the black leather 3 spoke in 15". I think LeCarras are the best wheel deal out there.
