I am the proud new owner of a white on red '65 coupe. I am believed to be the third owner- originally bought by a lady here in Seattle, sold in 1997 to a mechanic at a trucking company, and I picked it up about 10 days ago for $5200. The car is Wimbledon White, and the PO upgraded from the original 2 barrel to an Edelbrock 4V, put on some 14'' Torq Thrust Ds, lowered the suspension 2'' in front and 1'' in the rear, as well as some Shorty Headers and Electronic ignition with an MSD box. The car does have some surface rust (such as in the trunk) but the floorboards and cowl are solid. As for the paint, it had an at home paint job, so it looks decent but it's not hard to spot some runs and imperfections. I never thought I would like a white car, but it has really grown on me. There might be a more quality repaint in the future. Overall, I'm really excited about the car- it runs great, turns heads, and is going to be a lot of fun to drive and work on. I'm nearing the end of my junior year in high school, and will be trying to work on this car as a senior project. I'm already thinking about parts and projects to do. I've attached a couple pictures below, let me know what you think!

Just take it easy with the mods, don't just dive in headfirst like I did. :D I haven't driven my car for almost 2 years. Get all the mods you want gathered up and do them all at once, don't just keep digging deeper and deeper as you take it apart like I did. I am just aching to drive the car again, I miss it so much. Seeing you with your car almost makes me want the car back with 155rwhp and running like it was before so I could enjoy cruising. Just a piece of advice, enjoy the car, and enjoy tinkering with it.

thanks for all the comments. I've been driving the car as much as possible, and my only plans for now seem to be wash the car, and drive the car. :) I'm taking it to a shop to adjust the carb, and then I'm going to replace all the weatherstripping, but I'll try to take your advice and restrain myself with all the mods. thanks again!

Forget taking it to a shop, it is easy to tweak that carb, plus that is what we are here for, you will learn a lot on the tech side. With enough patience you will get it, and believe me if you are going to own one of these cars you are gonna have to learn how to work with one sooner or later, might as well be sooner and save yourself some money.

That car looks amazing. You found a great deal.:nice:

If you don't mind my asking, how wide are the wheels and what's the size of the tires? Are your fenders rolled? I was given 2" drop spindles, so I'm gonna try 'em, but I'm a little worried about fit.

I am going to agree, those shelby grills look so much better than the corral. It just gives it a much more aggressive look. It is like the 69 Mach 1 grills with the offset logo. I feel the Corral draws too much attention away from the overall front end of the car. Don't get me wrong they still look good, I just like the Shelby grills better.
