Does anyone know how to hot wire a safety neutral switch. I have to wait a few days for part to come in. Tired of push starting car. The fox was easy 2 wire system. My 95 has 4 wires

mine is like that. we did it in the harness connector in the engine bay on the passenger's side near the firewall. just jump 2 wires and you are done. if you need me to tell you which 2, i'll have to go look ... let me know

If you pull the starter relay in the underhood fusebox, look at the numbers on the bottom of the relay. You can use a small jumper wire to connect the terminals that correspond to relays terminals 30 and 87 on the relay. BE sure the shifter is in neutral and the Emergency brake is applied.

I think he wants to be able to start his car the normal way, not jumping the relay circuit. I mean, it's a way it can be done, that is, better than pushing it. But if he jumps the two wires described above the car can be started normally.

We dont have neutral safety switches on our T5's and otherwise they are only on automatics. Here's a picture of the clutch safety switch and how it is jumped. Thanks to Matt for that.

Grady, I hear ya. I dont like the switches in newer cars.

The only time such a switch really bit me was the first time I rode a new (at the time) sportbike. The thing kept killing with me putting it in gear. Turns out it was bceause the kickstand was down. I wasn't familiar with such a high level of BS on bikes. :D Of course I tored that POS down on the roadside trying to diagnose the issue before I figured it out.

I got car fixed and installed a new switch. It was a bear. I tried jumping wire on starter relay and the car turned over without keys in the ignition. Glad it was in neutral. Jumped 30 to 87. Ghost in the machine. Nah but thank you for the help. Fox had a simple design. Guess they got our sn95 ready for the 96 modular design.

The car will always turn over when you jump that relay (the starter solenoid receives battery feed). This is how I bump the motor over. Had the key been on, it would have started.

A slave relay is needed for most piggyback solenoids. The later aero foxes that had a piggyback solenoid used the fender solenoid as the slave. We have our little SPST relay as a slave.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Sometimes I think it would be nice to rent a circus performer to come do under the dash installs. :)

Yeah circus is right. I installed switch it worked great for the first day. I got into car this morning 5am no start. Rolled it down the hill fired up. So after work I disconnected battery just in case it might be computer no start. Push start and off I go. It has to be something else its kind of wierd to get 2 faulty switches back to back. Whats irionic they both worked for one day. Will not engage starter unless I jump relay. I have full power new battery but if starter was bad it would try to engage.???????

With the car in neutral and the emergency brake applied, have someone try to start the car while you are under at the switch. Check for voltage into and out of the switch.

YOu can test your old switch to see if it was bad (do this with the switch disconnected - like on your workbench). Set your DMM to read resistance (Ohms). Put one meter lead on each terminal. With the switch at rest, the reading is infinite. With the switch closed, it should read almost no resistance. You might have another issue than the safety switch, though that is the most likely issue. Knowing if you have in/out voltage at your new switch will help. Then we test at the starter relay. Then at the little wire on your starter soleonid itself.

On foxes, they get out of adjustment. I dont know if ours can be adjusted. On a fox, you sometimes have to push the clutch pedal through the floor to get the circuit to close. You might try that.

earlier you sent a diagram of the power distribution box. What cable is bolted on the left side if looking at the box. Is it power or ground. You have to slide up a plastic clip to gain access.
