Let's talk fuel injectors!

I've been right with you and agree with all you've said up until now, so maybe I'm not understanding what your saying but....................

My point was that unless his combo gets close to the 300HP level and is running lean at high rpms, or pegs the MAF, that he wouldn't need to upgrade to 24# and a new MAF. I guess I didn't say it that well. I don't have a problem with fuel pump upgrades, I just don't see most people needing more than a 155lph pump. The below calculator says that a 155lph pump will feed an engine up to 500HP. The stock 94-95 90lph pump should support up to 280HP, flywheel not rear wheels!

Here are some fun calculators. :D

I'm in process of building an engine for my vert. I'm hoping for 320HP at the flywheel and 255HP at the rear wheels, AODE need I say more? It's a budget Explorer/GT40/P-heads build up. And yes, I'll need a new fuel pump.

:hail2: Thanks a bunch Grady! I suspected 24's would not be up to par for my setup, so I decided to go with some 30's. I bought some FRPP 30's today on eBay for quit cheap too. I will DEFINITELY be getting a custom tune once I get my MAF recaled (can't use my injectors til that happens :(). Until then, I'll run stock 19's and bump the fuel pressure to around 60. Hopefully I won't have to do that for long, but we'll see. Thanks again!

Chris

Its quite common to see starter blower kits come with fmu's which work with elevated fuel pressures. I've heard so many tuners and their customers talk about how things got better when they ditched the high fuel pressure method and got a maf and set of inj's which were more suited for the combo and got the pressure back down to stock levels.

Our topic of discussion is not really that different from the above example and IMHO, the same principle would apply when talking fuel pressure.

I was just trying to say that elevated pressure method works and peeps do it every day but it is my second choice to a custom tune.

I can't fault anybody for wanting to see if they can get around a custom tune by trying mechanical tuning methods. :nice:

Like scarless said, larger inj's & mafs can pose a prob or two for you :D

I really like all the benefits you get from our pcm controlled cars ....

However

Its such a shame that its so costly to be able to make changes in that little silver box. :bang:

I think I figured it out. My friend Jesse told me there should be some dyno shops around here locally that can recal my MAF. If so, then I'll go ahead and get it recaled and throw on the 30's at the same time as the buildup. OR I can leave the stockers in there, and bump the fuel pressure to acheive the results, but I will only do that temporarily since I am planning on getting a custom tune. OR I might just get a C&L kit caled for the 30's, and while it's on there, send in my Pro-M for recal. Once I get the Pro-M back, then I'll just resell the C&L. That's definitely the more costly of the three, so I'll do that as a last resort. Thanks again though!
