License Plate Mounting?

So, all you get are two holes drilled in the plastic bumper?

Just removed the dealer frame from my V-6's rear bumper, and noticed that the holes aren't even drilled level -- the right hole is slightly higher than the left hole. Just an eighth of an inch higher, maybe, but I noticed it. Goes without saying that I'll leave the front plate off until Johnny Law notices. Don't want to drill holes in that front bumper without a good reason.

Nice. My 1966 Mustang had better license-plate mounts.

Any alternatives ... ?

Just two holes? The bozos at my dealer put three holes. Guess the third one was the charm. Clods!!! :damnit:

Ouch -- THREE holes?

No excuse for that sort of sloppiness. The dealer ought to fix that for you.

What worries me about these holes in the plastic is that they might strip out, seeing as how the plates mount with sheet-metal screws. I was thinking of inserting a threaded plastic sleeve into the holes, or something.

unless you are pulling on the plate, or pulling it off all the time your screws will be fine for a long time, need not worry.

I noticed the same thing... had to "modify" my license plate a bit so that it hangs straight. I don't have a frame around it right now and it will be very difficult to get one to hang straight if I do get one

I plugged the two holes in the front bumper with

www.bumperblugs.com and they matched the color of my 05 perfectly. Hate that the dealer had predrilled the holes...........

when I bought mine they asked if I wanted the front "bracket" to be installed on the bumper. I said no and had to sign a release because it's the law in CA. So I have no holes in my front bumper but there are 2 distinct dimples as to where I'll need to drill the holes... I can't beleive a dealer could possibly drill them crooked?!

There's no bracket - if they mount a front plate it's just the holes in the bumper. I don't have the front drilled - and never signed a release (I'm also in CA). It's the rear holes that are drilled crooked. The strange thing is, if I put the plate over the crooked holes - the bottom dimples line up perfectly - like the dimples are/were actually crooked.
