im a five oh guy, but i just bought an 01 bullit.
i think it has a slight lifter noise. the car only has 34k miles on it an. as far as i know it hasent been driven hard. is this a ford problem? does any one know about it or maybe experienced the same trouble. the 'rattle' is most noticeable at 2000 rpm. if anyone could help it would be great.

can you tell what head the noise is coming from. i do believe that there is a tsb for a lifter noise in the right cylinder head. when does it usually happen i know you said at 2000 rpm but is in th moring or at anytime?

i havent checked to see what head. what is a tsb?
the noise is anytime all the time. but it is most noticable most at 2000 rpm.

tsb= technical service bullitien
basicly ford's way of saying we have a problem but were not telling anyone yet. and yes it can be a lifter like you suspect. which as far as i know is not uncommon.

also remember......over head cam motors tend to be noisey as hell in general......my 4.6 has a very slight tap in the drivers side fenderwell area..only when cold......ive heard the same thing is like 4 or 5 other 4.6's

my 5.0 i used to have was pretty silent as far as the valve train
