I am wondering exactly what the pro's and con's of each?

Is one a lot better than the other?

My new motor is a Flat Tappet block, swapping to roller would be costly. If there is a considerable difference in powerband and revving capability I'll do it but otherwise, I'll be able to get it on the road again.

Run a solid flat tappet cam, best price to power ratio ;) .I would say a solid flat tappet would keep up with a hyd. roller cam, except maybe in low rpm power.

Mechanical is what I am looking at if I stay flat. I know a lot of wicked motors are solid flat tappet. They sound mean too, but who cares about sound when your loosing.
