Lifters: Roller vs. Flat Tappet?

I am wondering exactly what the pro's and con's of each?

Is one a lot better than the other?

My new motor is a Flat Tappet block, swapping to roller would be costly. If there is a considerable difference in powerband and revving capability I'll do it but otherwise, I'll be able to get it on the road again.

Well, you have to match your lifters with your cam...

I have noticed that the roller engines rev a lot faster than the flat tappet-cammed engines.

Run a solid flat tappet cam,best price to power ratio .I would say a solid flat tappet would keep up with a hyd. roller cam,except maybe in low rpm power.

Mechanical is what I am looking at if I stay flat. I know a lot of wicked motors are solid flat tappet. They sound mean too, but who cares about sound when your loosing.
