Has anyone tried the Dyna batterys from Performance Distributers. It only weighs 13.5 lbs as compared to 35 lbs for stk so at least a 20 lb saving off the front of the car. Twenty pounds is alot when u think thats off the front. For my street car this makes alot more sense then a on/off switch and the battery in the trunk. With the switch water can get into the car when u wash it or if u drive it in the rain and Im allways worried about forgetting to turn the switch off when u get out of the car. I did that a few times on my Big Blk 93 when I was at the track. I say water can get in because only the push/pull switchs are still legal in NHRA not the turn style. Plus u have the switch handle sticking out and were do u put it without modifying your license plate and pissing off a cop. According to the comp. its compltetly streetable as the sales guy I talked to said he had one in his f-150. Cost is 160 so its not cheap but if u need a battery anyway and are anal as hell like I am about getting the weight off the front of the car it sounds like a good idea. Like everyone says 5 lbs hear and there and before u know it its a 100 lbs and thats a tenth. Im at a 12.1 at this point so a tenth to me is huge. Also I only have 300 at the wheels but she runs good because she weighs 2800 with me out of the car and im 200 lbs, 3000 race weight. Ive down everything I can think of to bring down the weight and still have a nice streetable car except, tubular A-arms,racing seats and the battery and front coil overs.

Why do you think you need to turn the battery switch off when you get out of the car??? When since has the turn style on off swich not been race legal? Why do you think water is going to get in the car? I've had the battery in the trunk for about a year and I have a switch behind the lisence plate. I remove the plate when at the track, no big deal. Your making all this sound a lot more difficult than it is.

I don't know much about thier dynabatt but I am shure it is enough.

Me 2.

But to focus on the dynabat question, I have seen some importers use it. I believe it would crank the car ok.

I have an odyssey racing battery. It is way smaller than a standard bat and lighter.
I have had it since 2002 and it works good for me. I use it in my race only car with an alternator. It holds a charge for a long time, recharges very quickly and easily starts my 11:1 compression motor.

Water in trunk because u have to have clearence for the rod to slide in the hole for the off on switch. Were not talking alot of water but were ever there is a gap water will get in and get your trunk carpet wet or mayby if u have one get under the spare tire and it just be a pain to have to allways dry under the wheel. I was told at Joliet Race track NHRA track that the turn style was no longer legal so mayby my tech guy was wrong but a NMRA tech guy also told me they would not be legal in 04. I still say with the rod type it looks bad as u driving down the road and u have this rod hanging out the back of the car even if its only a few inches and again were do you mount it. U cant put it behind the plate. Finally no problem forgetting to shut off switch as long as nothing is powered up when the switch is on causing a drain and with the trunk switch I know guys have had problems with some of the cable they use. Im sure there ok for u guys as they were for my 93 but just had a few ? when it comes to street cars. Thanks for the info. :hail2:
