first open the center console and remove the rubber bumpers. there is two screws under there, take them out. remove the inner shell of the console. there are some screws down in there, 2 i think, remove them. now remove shifter handle, pull up on the shifter bezel, there are two(?) friction clips on the bottom and one on each side of the top. pull from the bottom of the shifter upward. next disconnect the two wires going to the lighter. from there, their are two screws at the top of the center console (bottom of center HVAC control bezel), take those out. that is all the screws you need to remove. now, you have to disconect the wiring harness under there. pull up on the back, and see where there is a group of wires coming from the floor, through the carpeting. disconnect that and remove the center console... hope that helps, i think i got everything, regardless, take you time and check these steps out yourself. its really easy to do.

Did you pull up the e-brake as far as it can go?

You have to unscrew the lighter from the outside. Use a screw driver to get the tube to rotate to the left, then use your fingers.
