Replaced the heater core today. Put everything back together, and start checking things. Had no blinkers. Found out the top connector on the multi-function was unplugged? Plugged it back in, blinkers return. Turn the lights on, all is working. On, my way home. I turn my running light on and have no interior lights or running lights. Blew fuse 4. Replace fuse, turn lights on, blows again. Pull wiring diagram and see that fuse 4 is for the main light switch. If I remove the dimmer, it stops blowing fuses. I have looked at the wiring diagram every which way. The only thing that connects the two is the light blue/red wire and a brown wire. Light blue/red is the illumination wire and the brown goes to the warning chime. They are fused separately........any ideas????

I suspect that the fuse is blowing due to stray voltage finding a path to ground.

Get a good flashlight and look all over that column and under the dash for any loose ground wires or ground wires that are NOT attached to proven ground points (in my case, one of the grounds was connected to a plastic panel).

All kinds of weirdness with the lights etc., that could not be easily explained by one fuse or circuit.

Sound familiar?

Noobz, you would be right.

Why is it some of the most aggravating issues are always the simplest fixes. The stupid radio illumination wire had a single strand sticking out of the insulator and was touching the brace for the radio............

Some still believe that swearing at machines is a useless endeavor.
