Ok I have a few Qs concerning a lightning supercharger. Jim Bowy said something about an adaptor plate to run a cobra supercharger on a 5.0.
1st qusetion:
Are the lightning and cobra superchargers the same eaton m112 or whatever?

2nd Quuestion where do I get an adaptor plate?

3rd ?: will I have a problem clearing the stock hood or distributor?

4th: what will have to be moved or switched ie: throttle cable, throttle body(I have the stock lightning one) egr(could I still run it?)

5th:how much boost do they make stock and I have an AFPR, should I get an FMU??

Thanks in advance
Jon

I think the lightning s/c is smaller then the cobra. I know theres someone on here with a red notch running an eaton s/c. I think he has the lightning one.

that is Jim Bowy but he has a hatch, he is running an m90 off an old tbird. He said eventually he wants to get a cobra supercharger and adaptor to adapt the blower to the stock or aftermarket lower intake.

I was thinking something similar to his setup except utilizing a lightning supercharger.

If you have to ask something like that its probably not wise to to attempt this project.....

Well if I go to make an adaptor or buy one, I will measure it out first tomake sure, or I could always run a setup like jim bowy's

1. Yup same blower, only differance is the Lightning blower is a top inlet and the Cobra blower is a axle (from the back) inlet.

2. Got no idea,I have only ever seen them custom made.

3. 99.9% sure it you put it on top. If you made a box with a tube runing to your current intake and mounted the blower lower, then it would probably work.

4. Dunno, why would want to keep EGR for one thing?

5. Stock on the Lightning its supposed to be 10psi,I dunno what the Cobra is.

Sell it and buy a blower that fits your car.

I doubt its going to be simple enough to justify using it. Your looking at a ton of work here.

I was also considering a MP T70 turbo and I have hookups at shops and a welder(that I am getting quite good at), and basically all of the resources to do it, but I have the lightning blower(the truck it came off of now has a whipple and nitrous ) so should I sell and get a supercharger or build my own turbo kit?

Oh,one other thing I forgot to mention...

The bolt pattern on the Lightnings blowers changed at a certain year,I think it was 01' but not sure.

I know though I cant bolt on a blower from say, an 03' Lightning to my 99'.

And to answer your post. WHY NOT do the blower? It would be more unique, plus whens the last time you heard a fox with that special roots blower wine?

Also, look into porting the blower case,if your decent with a die grinder get a porting kit and go take a look for some pics on the net how to do it. I have heard that its worth about 20-30hp on our trucks.

Oh,and your only gunna get about $300 for the blower.

Yeah, but I have the free blower, materials wouldn't be as much, good condition T70 is around 300+ alone plus wastegate, intercooler, boost controller, all the hot side and cold side piping. It adds up fast and I could just buy some exhaust tubes and weld them up just like jim bowy or the previous owner of his car did and have alotless to do.

Blower route, I'd get an MSD Ignition box, a vortech crank pulley, a new belt, air filter and the tubes.
