Lightweight Wheels

Anyone know lightweight rims in 17X9 configuration. I know there is BBS RK at 21lbs but man, 400$ a pop

I've looked at 5Zigen wheels, 17X9 are like 17.5lbs but it's such a JDM wheel.

Isn't the Ford OEM 2003 Cobra wheel a 17x9 that weighs in at 21lbs?

Some guys on Corner carvers spoke out against the Villians from MM. Apparantly, they aren't a very robust wheel. Many people have experienced the rims cracking.

Kilgore, I have also heard those wheels are very light as well... To the best of my knowledge, they are under 20lbs each.

If you're looking for 17x9, I would also recommend the Steeda Ultralite (version 1) wheels

I've already read that, not much close to 20lbs area in 17X9 unlike brands like 5Zigen, Enkei or Motegi.

well, they are designed for import cars that would stall if they have too much rotating weight.

Unless you roadrace where a wheel of that weight is necessary and would give you a very small (if any) or slight advantage, a wheel that is a few pounds more each shouldn't matter

woohoo konig villians ftw. they look almost identical to steeda ultralites. about a week after i got my wheel/tire setup, almost 2k, a buddy of mine picked up a set of ultralites with 275/40/17 Goodyear GS-D3s for about $800.

Yep, 28lbs Bullitts vs 17lbs 5zigen for example will shave 11lbs each wheel. If you add linear and rotationnal torque difference required for the new wheel weight, you will save around -101.19lbs in chassis weight equivalent.

And that's comparing a 17X8 with 245/45/17 to a 17X9 275/40/17

Sorry but your number are not correct. You need to look at the rim and tire together as a good comparison. ex. My 17X8 Mach 1 wheels and Gatorbacks are a total of 50 lbs per corner. My autox combo is 17X8 rim and a 275/40 tire are a total of 45 lbs each. Total weight saved = 20 lbs. From documents I've read, for every 1 lb of rotating mass you remove, is = to 6 lbs of static weight removed. In my case about 120 lbs of weight savings from the 20 lb lighter wheel/tire combo.

If you want to compare same exact size rims and tires(17X8, 245/45/17), if comes out to exactly -100.68lbs. 54lbs for the Bullitts and 43lbs for 5Zigen.

Still not sure where you are getting your numbers from. The stock Ford Bullitt wheels 17X8 are in the 22 - 24 lb range depending on finish, chrome, ect. 28 lbs is what a FR500 in 18X9 will weigh. I would bet the 28 lbs for the Bullitt wheel is the shipping weight, + 5 lbs for the box, 23 lbs for the rim. I have researched this topic long and hard before I bought my autox combo and 45 lbs per corner. Most serious autoxers have scales to setup corner weights or have access to them. Getting the real weight of a rim often differs from weights posted on the internet. My weights posted for my wheel and tire combo are accurate.
