Lincoln Aluminum Block in a GT?

I have a chance to buy an aluminum 4.6L block out of a lincoln Mark VIII. Does anyone know if this is the same Teksid block used in the early 4.6L cobras? The casting number is RF-F2LE-6015-HE.

many mark VIII's came with the teksid. hopefully somebody will be able to run that number for you and see if it is.

Can you guys explain Teksid? Does that mean the Lincoln blocks have forged parts like the cobras?

Every Mark VIII made had the Teksid aluminum block! Providing that motor is the original motor, it is a Teksid block. Mark VIII's did not have the forged internals that were found in the Cobras.

Teksid is an Italian company that used to make the aluminum 4.6L blocks for Ford.

I've heard that the Teksid block is good up to 1000 horsepower!

are they better than an iron block that you would get from someone like VT engines? as far as power levels i know there is a weight advantage

the teksid blocks are the strongest aluminum 4.6 blocks that were from ford. the jury is still out on the British block(aka the SHM or World block). the teksid blocks have been run up to 1800hp in drag racing applications with no problems.

those are wap blocks....good for 600hp but i've seen them up to 1000hp.

I know those Lincoln 4.6s are DOHC, so could I get a Teksid block and bolt my stock SOHC stuff to it?

You have to drill a coolant passage that the 2V heads have that the 4V heads don't have.
