Did you do the flipped bracket with Ranger axles or the stock Mark VII setup?

I used 86 SVO Mustang cables ($17 or so at Autozone each) and the FMS adjustable center cable on mine and it works great. I used the "U" shaped clip on the Mark VII ebrake cable ends and the rest of the stock parts to hook it up. I cut a slit in the "U" and put it on the new cable, and JB Welded it closed.

If you need to modify the brackets because you are using the Ranger axles, then here is how I did it.

I bent the bracket to clear the lower control arms. Stock is on the left, modified on the right:

To bend the brackets, I cut the lip on the bracket ends at about 9 o'clock and 2 o'clock:

Here is a pic of it all installed on my rear end:

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more info.

The bottom pic was of the rear end sitting upside down on jack stands. I just mocked it up for fitment before I installed it. So I guess you could say it is a view from underneath. The LCA mounts and the shock mounts are at the top of the pic. Also, the SVO cable I got had the return spring that is used between the "U" shaped caliper lever clip and the cable bracket. The FMS cables do not have them. I figured that using the cable with the spring would be the best way to keep the parking brakes returned to the off position since that is the way Ford originally designed it.

I did not modify my ebrake handle, but did use the FMS M-2810A center cable I got from my local FMS dealer (Tommie Vaughn Ford). It took me a good couple of hours to get the cables adjusted right with the self adjusting ebrake setup. I would recommend welding the ebrake and modifying it like the Cobra kit says to do. It could save you from installing and removing the handle and cables 3 or 4 times like I did trying to get the tension on the adjuster spring right.

After I cut the notches in the brackets, I mounted them in a vise and hammerd on them to bend them. Then i installed them on the calipers to make sure they fit fine, and bent them a bit more. I also ground down the front edge a bit, you can kind of see it in the third picture. The top edge is flater on the sides of the opening than the one on the left. This gave me a bit more clearance with the control arms. I made sure the calipers could slide back and forth on the slides a good bit and not hit the control arms.

Good luck and let me know if you have more questions.
